Vibram FiveFingers Komodo Sport $89.99 @ Costco Auburn

100

Saw these at Costco today, didnt get a chance to snap a photo but grabbed a pair for myself.

Price is on par with US prices but of course buying here means we don't have to pay shipping and returns will be a lot easier.

Local stores are selling these at $199 according to a quick google search.

This is the link to the product on the offical site, only one colour on offer at Costco "Black/Silver/Grey"

Oh, there gloves for your FEET - thanks, but no thanks.
BTW, seeing I'm in Brisbane I barely new what a CostCo was, had no idea on what a Vibram FiveFingers Komodo Sport was.

  • I would like some of these but isn't it tricky to try stuff on at costco?

    • Not really, I grabbed a pair and went into an quiet/empty aisle and tried them on.

Not sure about this part but doesn't costco have some sort of guarantee where you can return it if you're not happy with it, even if you've used the product? or is that only with their own branded stuff?

Not sure how you managed to find a quiet/empty aisle at Costco.

Don't go on a weekend if you don't like crowds.

        • Admittedly, I was there at 10am today so … near closing time is usually quiet.

        • Go Costco! Go you good thing :)

What a strange name, sounds more like a sex toy…

Are they available in Costco Docklands too?

    • +1

Yes they are, I was there yesterday and saw them on the the right wall as you walk in.

They had some mens AirMax as well for about $120, cant remember what style # etc also womens nike as well.

      • thanks! looks like I have an excuse to buy a membership now.

        • If you bother to go in a get a membership then you should be able to see these before buying.
They are set up just thru the entrance on the right whereas the door you go thru will technically be the exit on the left. The doors are side by side.

      • Hey dirtybird, did you happen to notice if there were any women's vibrams also!?

        • No didnt notice them, only what the OP posted.

        • No worries, thanks. :)

For anyone else curious about whether they had women's, I gave Docklands a call this morning, they only have the men's in stock.

        • Long read but this was from the Vibram website.

          I’m a man—can I wear women’s sizes? (Or, I’m a woman—can I wear men’s sizes?)

Yes, we have made this recommendation many times with great success. The best fit for your individual needs is determined by your foot measurement in inches. The only difference between male and female Vibram FiveFingers is that male "lasts" (shoe forms) are slightly wider and longer than the female models. If your foot is smaller than the smallest male size, certainly try on a female size based on your measurement in inches—you may have much better luck! Alternately, if you are a woman and your foot is bigger than the largest female size, we encourage you to try one of our men's models. Your size chart only goes up to 12, and I'm a 13. Can i still wear Vibram FiveFingers? If you look closely at our size chart, you will notice that the numbers printed across the top of the chart refer to your foot's length in inches, not in us size. We found that, due to the precise nature of the Vibram FiveFingers fit, the most accurate size translation was in inches, not us shoe size (which varies across brands and styles).

Fivefingers can fit up to a 12-inch foot, which roughly translates to a size 15. In order to find the right size, please measure both feet from heel to longest toe with a ruler in inches and refer to our size chart for the right size. You can go here to watch a video on properly sizing yourself for Vibram FiveFingers.

vibrams have very little support (kinda like Tabi boots) so you need to run slightly differently keep the shock from concentrating in your knees. I only use it for acrobatics, I don't understand how sports afficionados use it for long.

Another tip, if you are trying them on, they are a very close fit, so make the choice of always fitting them with or without socks and stick with it. I go without. there are split toe socks anklets for sports, but you can find cheaper brands meant for tabis.

this price is an absolute bargain if you are getting into vibrams.

I've been running in VFF's for the past 6 weeks (after no really running for a few years). It's a balancing act to try and get some miles up without overuse injuries. Currently running 6-8km's every 2 days.
Personally I love them. I enjoy running a lot more than I used to (I was wearing Kayano's). I'm also making a conscious effort to improve my running form which helps! If you're a strong heal striker though, you'll need to change your running form (which is good for you anyway!).

curiosity got the better of me - I had to know if someone had posted a "five finger discount" http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/five-finger_discount

  • would someone be generous enough to help me get one from costco docklands? i'll shout coffee :)

I thought long and hard about membership but I really dont need groceries in such bulk for a household of 1

Cancel the membership after you buy the shoes then.

      • Or cancel the membership before its due for the next renewals.

      • Will they refund the membership fee? How about stuff u bought?

    • I'm considering making a trip there today some time…

Is this the old Komodo or the LS version (with lace)?

    • I'd say not as the OP has linked to a pair w/o laces.

      • They're the model without laces.

  • Anyone happen to know what sizes Auburn has in stock?

    • I'm hoping to head there tonight to check it out. If I make it I'll try to post it here.

    • Same as Vibram website i believe. 40-47.

      • yep and lots still there. Almost a full pallet load.

        • thanks for replying shirtygrizzly.

  • I am so tempted to join Costco just to get the shoe. Haha
