Upgrading from OnePlus 7T to Pixel 7, Thoughts?

Hi all,

Looking to upgrade my Oneplus 7T to a Pixel 7 that I got in this deal but having second thoughts. I impulse-bought the phone but have not opened it so can return it if I decide to.

The OnePlus 7T is still a good phone after two years but the new software update taking it to Oppo's ColourOS has been annoying, especially with the bugs introduced such as the 90Hz dropping to 60Hz and manually having to put it back. Bluetooth connection has been dropping out every few minutes for a second or two. I just want a phone that works without these annoying bugs. The simplicity of stock Android is what made me purchase it.

I am open to switching to iPhone which has been a factor of my second thoughts as they are to have a USB-C port this year.

Is the Pixel 7 a worthy upgrade or it is more of a sidegrade? What are your thoughts if you have done a similar upgrade to this? How's the Pixel to use day-to-day?

    Not same but similar situation. I had oneplus 7 and hated the colorOs upgrade.
    I upgraded to pixel 7 pro and loved everybit of it after OP7.
    Pixel is snappy and much better screen. But I was using OP7 which was the lowest version.

    Long time pixel/nexus/android fan here. I got fed up of the constant bugs in pixels and the fact that Google keeps deprecating services, so I recently moved to iPhone 12 mini. The only things I’m missing are the slightly better cameras on pixels for stills (still think iPhone is better for video), unlimited Google photos (but that ended after pixel 5 anyway) and USB-C. I invested heavily in MagSafe charging everywhere though so the USB-C isn’t as big a deal. Oh and call screening: Apple really needs to copy that feature.

    Overall I’m enjoying the stability of iOS way more than when my wife and I were on pixels. Random battery drain was the biggest pita to diagnose because it often came from android services

    the pixel 7 is a great piece of hardware for a suitable price.
    its up to you to mitigate the risk of google services. there's plenty of options and enough to make the hardware and useable services worthwhile.

    I have the Oneplus 7T currently and am eyeing up the Pixel 7 as my next one. How did you find the transition? Pro's? Cons?

      I sold it for a bit more than I net-ted, planning to wait for the new Pixel 8/Pro or the new iPhone. Just really indecisive lol
