    • Alternative?

Miniforum are pretty good. And cheaper than these and new gen

        • Care to share a link to something similar spec for cheaper and newer gen?

        • This looks good - what does M.2 2230 WIFI Support mean? Does it have WiFi6 and antennas already built in, or do I have to add this myself?

        • Agreed. I own 3 Minisforum's and they've all been great.
Customer service, whilst slow, is great too. I had to return 1 back to Hong Kong and they refunded all expenses (after some prompting).

  • Hi @MetroCom, can this run 4X monitors or would I need extra stuff. Ideally all at 1080P or 4K. This would only be used for "business" use so no gaming. But would like zero lag on web pages/Excel/Word/CCTV etc.

    • Could try this:

Intel® UHD Graphics for 12th Gen Intel® Processors

Edit: seems to be four but Intel say manufacturers could limit it so hopefully op can tell for sure

Are you sure, I’ve seen some 12th Gen i7 with Iris Xe graphics. Maybe different models different integrated graphics?

The 12 Gen Intel NUC has very similar specs. No ram and no ssd it was selling in the low to mid $700’s can’t recall the graphics but they don’t use mobile CPUs in the NUCs

But this one is decked out with 32GB - DDR4 - $100-$110 for 2 x crucial 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM but a Evo 980 Pro NVMe would be a good choice for actual PCIe 4.0 M.2 socket or 990 if you can find one cheap enough.

Windows Pro would have been bette.

Still not bad price, personally I’d rather have a genuine NUC and then Intel has everything ready to go. I have heard issues with installing Win 11 without a network driver on devices using whatever Intel are using on their similar systems - I forget. I’ll find out.

        NUC would be more expensive

        • Nah, I wasn’t sure and OP has confirmed no below.

Intel NUC sounds like the safer option for business work.

    • Hi you will need a usb c docking to get it work for 4 monitor.

    • I will pass.

      • Care to elaborate?

better to wait for the 7945h based mini pc in Q3 or Q4.

    • +2

the RDNA3 based chips will put large downward price pressure on everything else. the retailers are putting their money at risk for holding inventory on the 12th gen Intel based machines.

    • I think you mean 7940hs with RDNA3 graphics. 7945hx is IGPU is mainly designed for productivity. It's better paired with a dGPU.

      • yes I am referring to 7940hs since we are talking about mini pcs

  • +3

Anyone shopping for a "high end" mini PC either preorder the UM790 Pro or wait for more OEM's to release their AMD Phoenix designs

The full 12CU RDNA 3 Radeon 780M iGPU in these APU's match a GTX 1650:

    Ryzen 9 7940H(S)
    Ryzen 7 7840H(S)
    Ryzen 7 7840U

Every dGPU laptop with a GTX 1650 or lower is now obsolete and outside of the cheap Intel N100/N105 boxes, AMD has now taken over the SFF space just like PS5 and Series X

  • This is a good MACHENIKE DEAL
