Pretty cool deal. Halo 1-3 are some of my favourite games of all time.

    • Halo 2, 3, Reach and even the later and not as well reviewed 4 and 5 for me.

I have not played Infinite yet - the grappling hook through the same tunnels looks a little too much - but may give it a go later down the line.

      • +3

Agree 5 was trash but Infinite's campaign is very good. The grappling hook adds a really fun/different dynamic to combat.

I wouldnt want to pay more than $10 for Halo Infinite.
        It was Far Cry: Halo
There is no couch co-op as promised (and which is why I paid full price for it)
Campaign was fun but it doesn't feel like a whole halo installment

  • +1

Thanks for posting mate. Love the series.
On a side note, is anyone still able to use PayPal on steam purchases. I'm using the steam app on my android phone.

    • Yes, just paid by Paypal for my copy (on PC).

      • Thanks. I'll check out the PC store later. Steam app on my phone doesn't list PayPal as an option anymore.
Strange, cuz I used it to buy games last week?

        • I can't see it too. I've looked around and apparently it's a global thing but only happens to some people. Seems more like a glitch than removal of PayPal option.

Also available at this price for XBOX if you don’t have gamepass or like to own it copy

    Just purchased it

    • +1

I wanted to buy on Xbox but you can’t play on Xbox and/or PC, so Steam it is

      • +1

Sadly it's not PlayAnywhere so you have to purchase it twice if you don't have Game pass.

  • +10

Works on Steam Deck in case you were wondering: link

Thanks OP. Getting this for nostalgia and multiplayer

    • +2

I'm almost stupid enough to buy it to play on my deck despite owning it on xbox. Could stream it, but I despise streaming. Very tempting!

  • +3

    Awesome games.

Replayed Halo 4 recently. It was a lot better then I remember. I think people wrote it off because of the multiplayer.

I got bored of Infinite really fast. I cant see myself ever replaying it.

    • +2

      My recollection of H4:
      Weird, unfamiliar space robot enemies
      Always running out of ammo
Forerunner weapons felt like they had no impact/damage
Didn't really feel like a Halo game, was like a generic space sci fi shooting. Plot was a little nonsensical. Never felt compelled to replay it

      • It took me a while to learn the best ways to deal with the Prometheans. But I eventually got used to wiping them effectively with the light rifle.

Highlights of the H4 for me is the atmosphere, music and graphics/art style.
I just liked the whole vibe of the game. I think 343 did a great job for their first single player campaign. Idk how they got the others so wrong.

Definitely all-time low price OP: link
    Great post!

  • +1

Worth buying if you never played the series?

    • +14

      Yes, yep, yeah.

    • +5

You have the entire story in one pack with, artwork and gameplay that are up to scratch with today’s titles. Basically set the template for all console shooters today.

      • +1

Thanks guys - purchased. Never had an Xbox so have no nostalgia for the series at all.

Hopefully it holds up to modern day standards!

So Halo 5 and Infinite will need to be purchased separately. I guess I'll see how I go with the old ones first.

        • +1

Oh man to relive the soundtrack at certain points in the first Halo game. If only!

        • +2

I've been playing through Halo 1 and 2 campaigns with my son, we've never played it before.

You get lost a lot and have to wander around wondering what to do next, but otherwise it holds up pretty well in 2023.

Gameplay still pretty fun, story interesting, etc.

But you need two PCs (or to fiddle with Nucleus Co-op) because there's still no local splitscreen co-op, only online co-op.

          • @GandalfTheCheap: That's particularly true in Halo 1, where the levels (The Library, for example) repeat themselves.
Halo 3 isn't as bad for getting lost.

        • Damn dude. Wish I was in your position… To play through all of Reach, H1, H2, and H3 for the first time again would be amazing

  • Any of these games have 4 player split screen?

    • +2

I don't think any of the PC Halo games had any split screen. Had to have Xbox versions

      • +2

Yeah it's stupid. They actually spent time and money removing splitscreen from the PC ports for no reason. Just baffling.

Online co-op works, and you can apparently use nucleus co-op to run splitscreen by having the online co-op running two sessions on one PC, with some fiddling. Not sure how well it works.

  • +3

Time to play these on my Deck!

  • +1

think I might grab this and Halo Wars purely because I want to play them on my Steam Deck despite playing them all before

  • Is this just DLC for original games, or are these the full games?

    • +1

It's one game in steam with a bunch of DLC's

    • It's all of the full games.

But if you don't want them all, you can go to "DLC" and buy just the one(s) you want.

  • Does this have online co-op?

  • Sorry, another question…. Would this be able to be played as online co-op with someone with Xbox gamepass (PC)?

    • +1

Yes I've played co-op Halo 1 and 2 campaigns in this, with 2 PCs, one with gamepass ultimate and one with this on steam.

(I chose "LAN" instead of "Xbox live" in the settings, but I don't think that's necessary).

  • +1

Thank you - bought :) Reviews seem generally positive and I note its been remastered to 4k :)

  • +1

This is great, all the bugs are ironed out. Plenty of btb and swat games during lunch breaks.

  • +1

I have over 1000 hours on this collection, I was 13 when combat evolved released

  • Does anyone know if this has ultrawide settings?

    • +2

Yep, worked with my 3440x1440 21:9 when I had it.
Any complains about stretched HUD you might find online are from over a year ago, it's been fixed.

      • Thanks for the reply!

  • +1

Already own it on xbox but for this price you cant refuse
