Olympus M ED 9-18mm f/4.0-5.6 micro Four Thirds Lens for Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four Third Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera - (International Version, No AU warranty)

This is a fantastic little lens. In my opinion, it punches above its weight and is an ideal companion for the micro four thirds system. Compact, light-weight, good for close-ups, and excellent for travel (street and landscape photography). I've enjoyed using it so much in the past and recently broke mine. This is pretty close to the price for second hand, so I think it's a steal.

Wow what a price. I considered buying this years ago and never have seen it this cheap.

Gahhh, I could use something like this but f4 is just too sloww

Yes, but… nothing compares in this size, weight, or price. With good image stabilisation, hand held is still fine. If you want shallow depth of field, carry another lens like the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 or Olympus 45mm 1.8. This lens is just so flexible and easy to carry.

I'm really gonna impulse purchase this right now ain't I 😬

If you think you'll use it, I can say you won't be disappointed. Small and light was the promise of m43. This is it.

  • Bargain! Even used prices are above $500+.

    • What you shooting with these days?

        Phone. Samsung note.
but i dont travel alot anymore.

        • You made the right choice. Lenses are too expensive nowadays. m43 lenses retain value better than the m43 camera bodies.

          • @netsurfer: Lenses are always worth more than the body.
The lifespan of a lens is far greater than the components of any digital body for a few reasons.
One being that you can service and repair a camera lens

            • @PlaunsJanus: The first two lenses I have for m43, first one I bought for $70 and the second one I got for free (a Panasonic promotion at the time). I really want to get either lens for less than $100 so I can include it when selling my old camera body (prefer to sell the body with at least a lens so the buyer can test it at least). However, both now cost a lot more (easily 2X more). Both are low end kit lenses at best.

So cheap! Have to pass as I already have the PL 9mm. Feels like around the 400 mark should be around the normal price for this lens given it's age/competition.

    • Panasonic 9mm, would you recommend it? I saw it around $650

      • +2

I think it's pretty good. Main pros are that it's very small (130g) and solidly built. Sharp wide open but that also means it doesn't improve that much by stopping down. It is a prime though, so if you pair it with the kit lens (14-42) you might have quite a large focal length gap (18mm to 28mm equiv gap). Should also be noted that there are plenty of MFT options if you want wider angle or more versatility (zoom) with different tradeoffs (e.g. size or smaller f stop) - e.g. this lens, Laowa 7.5mm, PL8-18, Olympus 7-14 and 8mm defished.

650's quite a good price. Got it for similar last year.

Very good price indeed. I had it when I use m43, I think I sold more than that as second hand.

it is not the best but I found it sits on the perfect balance of price, portability and quality, the premium grade ultra lens is worth it if you use a full frame body I reckon. For M43, it excels because it can go to places you won't bring a heavy camera, and that's a lens to compliment that.

  • Very cheap!

  • Cheap but my 12mm f2 hardly gets used as is :(

    • Wow f2… Come on go out and…. . catch all those bokeh

  • What camera bodies are you guys using EM5?

  • Now reduced to $348.43! Or may be exchange rate became more favourable.

  • I had one back in the day that I paid probably twice as much for. I think I sold it for about this price or more

  • If anyone is after the 45mm f1.8 for ~280 AUD, also available on amazon from JP.

  • Very tempting.

I picked up the 14-150mm for ~$300 from a HN clearance to meet my Super Zoom needs after my Nikon1 10-100mm died.

I just need an UWA on m43 and I can leave my N1 gear at home. Though, I would prefer the Panasonic 10-25mm f/1.7. Just not as compact/portable or cheap as this.
