  • So they pay us to join?

    • Haha yea the sceptic in me says that can't be a good sign.

Yes I signed up last time when they ran this 120% cashback deal. I was sceptical too but was surprised that it worked I remember getting the higher cashback than what I paid. So it is a good deal.

        It working isn’t the problem.

Who you’re trusting with your privacy is.

    • I bought it regardless of the negative reviews as I'll just get a refund within the 30-31 day money back guarantee period if the cash back doesn't track on shopback.

@gotyourback I did notice a few things on the shopback site weren't correct.
First its 79% off + 3 free months, but shopback says its 79% off + 4 free months.
Secondly, the code at the bottom "no-log-vpn" or whatever, does not work. Even when buying without buying via the deal mentioned first.

    • It actually has the second highest review rating 3.2 stars on ProductReview after NordVPN, (excluding a single review of PrivateVPN).
It also has the second highest amount of reviews, showing that it's very popular!
I used PureVPN for many years and was very happy with it, they had good customer service on the one time I needed it,
but I found it had slow (but not snail paced) speeds so I moved on to another VPN, but I would recommend it.

  • i always have been leaving reviews to purevpn support that they should pay me to use their VPN

i guess they really do listen to support requests.

The windows client randomly will not connect regardless of server or country the button just does nothing quitting doesnt fix either only a reboot does
other times all DNS requests will fail but internet traffic will continue by IP Address in windows
so that Windows will stop being usable until quitting it. (yes this is when IKS internet shutoff VPN disconnected protection is not enabled)

The split tunneling similarly will be connected for programs and continue working but randomly all DNS will be blocked or interfered for all other programs.

The Linux and android don't seem to have such issues.

The windows reviews for last 4 years seem to report these annoying things too, so thankfully I'm not imagining it

  • sus altho its good they are based in the british virgin islands

  • Is the $ in AU or US?

    Absolutely no issue with PureVPN.

I pulled the trigger on a 97% cash back a while ago.

If all you are doing is unlocking region locked content this is an absolute no brainer. Enjoy.

  • I did the 120% for 5 year plan and worked for me last time. Ymmv

    • Is there a way of doing the 5 year one again?
The only option I get is the 24 months with 3 extra months for $54.95

      • Not an option anymore.
They've also raised their price over the last few years I believe.
The cheapest option used to be 1.99 USD per month with referral stuff.

        • But if they raised prices that then means that 20% of the total costs more, SO WE IN TURN GET MORE CASHBACK TOO

  • Good enough for region locked contents but don’t use it for privacy protecting purposes

Some OzBers point out that PureVPN data tracks their customers, PureVPN clearly explain what they track and why on this page you should read it if you're concerned.
Six years ago a Ryan Lin was using PureVPN to stalk and harass women, the FBI had a warrant to search Lin's home and work computer,
they found PureVPN on his computers, the FBI then subpoenad PureVPN, they handed over the data that they say they collect on their website, that was it.
Some commenters make it out that PureVPN is selling your data or being dodgey, but every subscriber to any company must realise that some data needs to be stored,
how can they contact you without your email address, how can you login if they don't store your password, how can they charge you if you don't give your banking details?

  • Bought I don't usually trust shopback but if it doesn't track I will get a refund.

  • Giving them a shot. 2 years for $55ish at the moment. So I expect $60+ back in my Shopback in the coming months.

55US about $85.56AU for 27 months. I'm currently in Philippines and have been using cyberghost and trying to get 9now working and Netflix Aus and USA was a pain so tried purevpn and they just worked . Just got tracked by shopback $97.77 back so around $12 profit .

      • You are right! $97.77 Shopback, successfully tracked already.. almost immediately in fact.
$82.13 is what was charged to my credit card.
        Not a bad deal.

  • When the product is free , you are the product .

  • Cost me $82.14 on my ING visa debit with $97.77 cash back. Not a bad easy $15 return with a free product

    • how long it took to track it?

      • +1

Looks like $97.77 is the standard amount that gets tracked. I had the same cost using CBA card…but it still hasn't tracked. Hate it when tracking takes forever

      • Ordered at 12, got the email from Shop back at 1:30. So pretty quick

        • Thanks. I purchased 15 minutes ago. maybe few hours.

  • +1

just be safe with your credit card detail, you can do apple pay to make the payment

    • lol, it shows up as transaction in HK. Makes me really sus. Thinking I'll cancel my CC right after this.

      • +1

        You're joking right?
PureVPN has been around for 16 years. They're not going to steal your credit card info lmfao.

        • Very conscious of the 120% cashback promo. Having said that, I'm comfortable to cancelling my card and manually updating all my direct debits.

Also, my cashback has finally tracked….time-lag of 3.5hrs but also scoring easy $15 here. Glad I held off the Surfshark & NordVPN deals!

  • Thanks OP. I bought it just for the cashback hahaha. I'm still using Private Internet Access as per the last 115% cashback deal.

Edit: For those wondering, you get about $15.64 from this deal

  • Hi, Could you pls confirm that "Grab 79% off on 2-year plan" plan is applicable for this discount?

    • just bought the 2 year plan around 10mins before but not tracked yet. will update once cashback tracked.

  • Giving this a go! hopefully works for streaming
    Edit: works fabulous :D

  • No prob paying through Paypal?

    • You can pay with any of the methods and the cashback should track fine.

  • payed with paypal. Surprisingly It gave me no option to choose the conversion rate through Bank. bloody charged me $85 something via paypal. It could have been way way cheaper directly by bank.

Will likley have to contact Pure VPN to cancel membership. and then signup again. with bank card directly Ditch paypal Now FORCING US TO PAY THEM FOR CONVERTING CURRENCY ON $h!t rates

    • That's a lot of work for $3 lmfao

      • Hmm can also shows how doddgy their refund policy is

    • Doubtful that Shopback will honour the cashback if you signup again as it's for 'New Users' so you have essentially signed up once, then decided to cancel which revokes your cashback. If you keep it as is you still essentially make $12.77, but doing what you're proposing could leave you with $0. Take it as a learning experience, be thankful that you still get $12.77 and move on.

Edit: Unless you have more than 1 ShopBack account in which case go for it..

      • be thankful that you still get $12.77 and move on.

that is if they track it LoL it hasnt even tracked out yet

        • Mine took about 3 hours. That was via a Commbank debit card.

    • @USER DC

bloody charged me $85 something via paypal.

How'd you find out the conversion rate? In my PayPal, it states the amount in USD only.

      • Only shows you once transaction is completed

        • Where? In PayPal or on the card that was used for the transaction?

          • @pacificstorm: in paypal account gotta login to see

            • @USER DC: OK. Thanks. Already joined and trying PureVPN now and so far in my PayPal it just states the amount paid is in USD. It's a waiting game I suppose.

              • @pacificstorm: No you have to go in actual transaction details underneath that It should show you the exchange rate it used

                • @USER DC: Once again, thanks. 🙏

                  • @pacificstorm: Yeah they bloody take so much money, Money from us, and from the retailer too.

I'd still probably let it go if SB had tracked it but nothing so far, and their CS is absolutely trash, even Surfshark had a lot LOT quicker replies compared to this.

                    • @USER DC: Oh. Leaving Surfshark next month and opted for this as a replacement solely because of SB tracking it and hopefully we will get a pending status soon.

                      • @pacificstorm: Me too, mine ending around end of the year, quitting surfshark wanted to jump over to Nord seems like they are more private than this, But this had better cashback return so buy this as well with it

    • PayPal charged me 85.56 as well you are getting it for free plus making a profit and your worried about $3.

      • I am more concerned about the fact that Paypal is AUTOMATICALLY FORCING US TO USE THEIR EXCHANGE RATE, aka NOT GIVING US AN OPTION TO SELECT OUR Currency convertor (what if this was another transaction of much much higher $ amount ?)

Not worried about $3 dude, ofcourse Its still a profit deal, that's why I likely wont use the service, Just buy it to make profit though.

  • Okay to just create a new PureVPN account like other VPN deals?

  • Been interesting seeing the exchange rate. I used BWA and currently invoiced for $82.13 so similar to the two rates mentioned
