Flat tyre due to a nail in thread area (not sidewall).

$20 for the plug from the outside
$40 to 50 for the plug from the inside

    • Cool, which shops do you suggest (I will check near post code 2154)?

Literally doesn't matter. It's a super basic plug repair that anyone can do. Even yourself if you had a kit. So nearest tyre garage is fine.

        $20-30 is average.

it's a tyre puncture. not rocket science.

If you don't rely on the car critically and never venture into the rural areas, the $20 is probably done from local mechanics attached to a petrol station and alike. Normally those are meant to be "temporary fixes" but really theyre normally fine for ever.

A tire shop will - should - do the "proper one" which are 'permanent fixes'

  • Sydney's a big place. If you're in Manly, don't think you want to go to Campbelltown to get it fixed.

    • Thanks, I missed it but mentioned post code in above post.

Costco does them for free if member

    • No it doesn't. It does that only if you have purchased the tyres from them.

If you have a NRMA Membership, you can get it fixed for free at Beaurepaires

Can sign up for a free NRMA Blue membership here or here

    • wow i did not know ta

      • Free* puncture repairs

OK I registered app! Do we need to add Rego somewhere?

      What's the asterisk though ?

And strangely my closest two stores are "Temporarily closed"…
Gotta remedy this hex bit https://pasteboard.co/ROdKWwIC2qbH.jpg

  • $20-$50 is a good round number.

    Although inflation is a bitch.

      "Although inflation is a bitch"

For future cases, best to carry a plug kit in your car. Costs like $10. And you also want a bike-pump, or inflator can.
Saves having to change wheels when you return to the carpark to find a flat.

Supposed to be temporary, but in my experience lasts until the tyre is no longer worth fixing.

    • On ebay, well under $10. Keep one in each car. Saved me numerous times.

  • How long might you have been driving before noticing? You can't drive far on a flat before its permanently damaged - I'm talking in metres here depending on how bad the flat is.

  • Go to your local tyre place. Get it fixed. If they tell you you have to get a new tyre, get a second opinion (from a different shop)

Alternatively, phone a couple of local places and ask for a price first.

  • Beaurepaires $40 you have to leave it them for a day. If wanting to install and remove spare another $20.

  • Tyrepower at Baulkham Hills has been awesome for my family.

  • Not all Punctures even in the Tread area are repairable, and not all methods are Legal.
Call the closest 2-3 to you, get a price starting at - up to, and go visit them.

  • My son was quoted $30 from mycar. They surprised him by not charging him at the end. Perhaps goodwill to get his future business.

  • $25-$30 in Syd for me.
They take it off and patch it from the inside.
Timewise, first in best dressed, so had to wait for the people ahead of me.

  • Took mine to Bob Jane. Left it with them. I said I'd pick it up tomorrow.

Next day, the had to go through the dumpster to find my tyre.

    I think it was $40.
