David Jones has the PT735 in its Father's Day sale until 2 September. Cheapest price online I found was $86 plus shipping. I think I also say a remington inan ad in the Mx paper but cannot find it online - if any of you has the paper still, maybe you can post the Remington shaver offer which I think was a good deal, too.

Edit: Harvey Norman has the PT735 apprently for $68 in store (thanks to MrZ)

Big W has the PT860 on sale which seems to be a good deal as the next cheapst online I found was $123 delivered.

Both ship those items, too but I did not check and do not know about DJ's delivery costs. Big W delivery is free since it is over $50.

Please let me know if those prices are not good deals - I am happy to amend and add any links to cheaper deals.

    How effective are electric shavers (in general)?

    I've always wondered if they are actually all that close or effective in their shaving ability.

      They are pretty good. I always doubted them but have to say they are sufficient for daily use.

    Are these shavers good for sporting a groomed stubble or should I just get a trimmer? All the good electric shavers have a pop up trimmer, but I wonder if the trimming part is actually good or just good for sideburns? Sorry for the dumb sounding question, have never used an electric shaver before.

      Not sure if this answers your question - but I 'maintain' a short beard just using a trimmer leaving the length (1-4) guides off the unit.

      Works well - and not as fiddly as a pop-up job on an electric shaver.

      I still shave my neck most days - in the shower using a razor.

      The trimmer on my Philips works just fine, even for longer beards.

      Yes, there are literally hundreds of different models. I still think this is a good deal for those who like Philips shavers.
