Can't vouch for the store and it's not clear whether this is the 38mm or 40mm version, but reviews are good and looks like you get the genuine ST1901 movement at an amazing price for a mechanical chronograph that is very interesting to look at. Note, it is hand wind only with no hacking.

Also stated as Sapphire Crystal but no guarantees of that.

Another seller with similar price.

http://aliexpress.com/item/1005005628974774.html (US$64.09 with extra strap and panda dial version available)

Take your pick for a punt. Usual price for these from other sellers is about double.

These are the unofficial version, but the "official" Sea-Gull version with same Sea-Gull movement but several hundred dollars more is not worth the money.

  • So long everyone is bothered disputing this sale, then it will be a lesson for the seller

The watch is worth no more than $20 at a flees market.

Hopefully the refund comes through tonight post 7 days dispute process.

I will buy an original from elsewhere.

    Any recommended sellers?

    • SEIKO or Citizen.
Agree complete junk and people should be changing their votes to negs.

Just look it up on YouTube. I don't think you're going to buy an original Chinese watch for $1100.

I posted a few times so just scroll up, reputable shop listed in description. Actually watch all of his videos for good recommendations.

The idea of buying this watch is not for the brand or build.

I have a omega already, so it’s more for the novelty of having a Chinese mechanic watch. Call what you may….

Got my refund today and bought one from another seller with more reputable reviews, but paid $270 instead.

So long it’s mechanic with a reasonable build, I will be happy

        • Yeah yeah fair few options. Those were just examples for buying a known entity. Don't get me wrong, I've got a couples of Pagani, steeldive, Cronos and Baltany but lately I've been buying more brand names (mostly eco-drive and Seiko solars), not much more and can always easily sell later instead of being a throw away. It's just the seagull that's a highly copied and unknown one given the number of Ali sellers and stores.

Will I'm glad you found a good unofficial version, should be what you wanted to start with and the whole point of it is the Chinese movement, would be nice to look at. No point getting something too cheap and nasty.

The official one is A$1k, bit sounds like you found the good unofficial version (~A$255):

Shame no good sales or cashback but main thing is getting what you want.

          • @G-rig: Yeah I think this is the seller I bought off :)

What a waste of time. Seller finally provided the return address that looks like its fake, which i hopefully converted into the correct format.

    yusonghai 15878587329
    dongfengcunqiankoujiejimaoyi
    Huiyang District
    Huizhou Guangdong Province 516226
    China

Shipping was just under $22 with sendle. Receiver has not agreed to pay shipping, apparently they are supposed to agree on the cost before you send but he took ages to get me the address so i couldn't be bothered waiting for approval (and $22 is about as cheap as you can send stuff to china for anyway).

AliExpress has no contact or support apart from an automated chat bot so there's really no recourse if things go South.

Refund will be released when Seller confirms receipt of the watch, estimated to be a month from now.

Wont be buying from them again in future. Its not about the money at this stage, its the principle. I reckon they count on some people keeping the watch and pocketing the profits.

    Good luck everyone.

    • You can decline their offer and let alibaba step in with a resolution

      Don’t bother sending it back.

      • Just take photos of the back and then use this as proof it’s not a mechanical watch

Nor is it a clear back as advertised

        • Thanks for the advice but i have sent pics of the front and back and a video. The seller rejected all of AliExpress' offers but AliExpress gave me two options, keep the watch and receive a partial refund or send it back at the sellers expense for a full refund. I'm trying to get a full refund so will post the watch back.

          • @Sprintz25: The worrying thing is your return address is different to one posted a few pages back, but who know how it works.
sucks that there is no consistency for refunds, unlike ebay, amazon etc.

            • @G-rig: I reckon they are all drop shipped. I got the Panda which may explain the different address.

          • +1

@Sprintz25: Then make sure you get an online quote and upload the screen shot on Ali express

Make sure it is tracked so you have proof of delivery

This way the seller will end up paying for super expensive shipping fees, which will get them to think twice about return

I’m almost certain the return freight is more than the watch itself

            • @Aceboy884: And ask them to provide the address in Chinese

You can print it out instead of writing it

The address they’ve provided is in Pin Yin,

It’s lumped together and likely to be misinterpreted by the postie who can’t read

            • @Aceboy884: Yep. Sendle gives an invoice etc which i will upload to Ali. Its fully tracked but no sig on del. Hopefully itll be ok. What a waste of time for a crap watch.

    • I have the same with the one linked to in the listing text - checking the Paypal receipts and I should have noted *it had the same item number as the fake POS I ordered a few days later.

I know have two crap Sunon PE60 ( a date/sweep second movement) which, if genuine, have been warped into a "stop watch" that will run for a few minutes depending on what time of day you attempt to use it.

Aliexpress have 24 hours then it's a Paypal dispute.

  • Opened Aliexpress dispute with photos/video, only got an offer for refund if item returned or $18 refund and keep the useless watch
Opened Paypal dispute with photos/ video, Paypal says to send back at my own expense for a refund

Sent a message now to the Paypal chat on how stupid that is for a scam item. If they don't budge I'll file a card chargeback. I previously had good experiences on Aliexpress with missing / incorrect items, but from this experience and others' comments it sounds like that time has passed.

  • Speak of the devil, new video:
    https://youtu.be/NhApWZ7ki1w

You guys are probably trying to forget these, bit pretty relevant:)

  • I got the Panda from 2nd link, what a pos! After a week back and forth with buyer and AliExpress they offered me a $86 refund or send back for full refund of $107. Hopefully a decent deal comes around for a proper Seagull movement one day.

    • Exactly the same as me, except I bought the non-panda version from the second link. I've sent an appeal following the refund to attempt to get the rest, as I'm not entirely sure this watch is even worth the $20.

      • Good idea, I may do the same. I accepted the $86 because it would cost at least $25 to send it back.

        • +1

Appeal just came back as unsuccessful, so the $86 is all i'll get back (i think they did just subtract the shipping cost for returning it).
At least it works and I don't have to wait for the item to return before getting the refund, and an 80% refund is better than nothing.

  • I have taken it up with PayPal and the Ali dispute is frozen now waiting on PayPal, not sure how good PayPal is, it is my first time dealing with them.

    • +1

Just had my PayPal claim declined for refusing to return the item. This is such garbage and a complete scam

      • I'm happy to return it if they pay for the postage.

      • Guess you'll have to send it back then.
        How painful.

      • +1

Update: Rang paypal and they offered a paypal credit for the full amount - no return required. Can be used as paypal payment for any merchant. I am happy with this

        • tops. good outcome!

  • +2

Don't deal with Paypal, close the case, as they demand return with the buyer paying return postage. Go back to Aliexpress and (re)open dispute. Upload photos and a video. Hopefully Aliexpress will then refund.

    • +1

ALiexpress will not take my second refund request unless I modify the refund sought to exclude postage costs.

IANAL, I didn't think it was legal to return counterfeit items.

  • +2

Here's what I did for reference:
    1. Filed a dispute with aliexpress, and accepted a $78 refund to get it over and done with. The seller disagreed with the solution.
    2. Decided to file a dispute with Paypal - they accepted the evidence and offered a full refund so long as they get a return. I was unhappy with the solution, there's no guarantee the supplied address was legitimate or that they'll ever receive it. It would take too long. This paypal dispute closed my original aliexpress dispute.
    3. Filed new aliexpress dispute, and uploaded a video of the Chrono not working and missing back. This was approved as a damaged and counterfeit product. Rejected the original partial refund offer. The seller inserted a photo of a real 1963 labelled with the features, I remarked that the image the seller-provided didn't even match my copy (the sub-dials were different).

    Got a full refund!

    • geez what an ordeal but good result i guess.

  • +1

Ali has finally agreed to issue a full refund, waiting to see when it will come through.

  • +1

Finally got a full refund issued after closing the initial dispute and going through PayPal then closing PayPal and opening a new one with Ali.

  • …damn. what a saga!

  • Seems like a bit of an AliExpress sale on. Ended up getting a proper homage of this watch, should be as you'd expect not like the other junk around. A$254..
