I would really worry about customer support - especially the 100-night trial. Reviews are terrible.

    • where are the reviews..?
im going to try one out if i dont like it then ill send it back

    • Customer service is terrible with this company. Just hope if you purchase from them you dont need to contact support as its not a pleasant experience. Speaking from experience.

    • I concur, had an Emma mattress, used the 100 night return policy and it was a nightmare. Contacted them and it seemed easy, they said it was booked in. This was after they tried to make it my issue by saying I could donate it to charity and arrange to have it picked up, which I wasn't doing. 7 business days went by and no pickup. So I contacted them again and they said they could see there was a ticket but didn't know what happened. They then went down the path of me donating it to charity again or that I could just throw it out in the trash. I explained that we typically don't throw mattresses out in the trash in Australia which she seemed surprised at. All my interactions with Emma was via off shore call centres. I said that I wanted Emma to collect as per the policy on their website, so the merry go round started again.

      Time went, nothing collected.

I spoke with them again and same old story. This time I took the mattress downstairs, took a photo of it next to our recycle bin, sent it via an email and they refunded me. I then sold the mattress on FB marketplace. I just wanted it gone in the end.

Emma had no intention of collecting the mattress. I suspect it costs them more to do so and then it's their problem to dispose of. If you buy it and like it, great, but need to return it then be ready for an interesting ride.

There is zero German efficiency with their call centre or the process to return. Even at the very end I got a feedback survey which I completed and gave a pretty scathing review for, to this day nobody ever contacted me to discuss it. They don't care.

      • youre complaining about getting a full refund and selling the mattress for profit?

        • +5

My time wasted wasn't worth the money. I didn't want to profit from it, I wanted a simple, trouble free experience which is what the Emma website shows.

          I didn't get that though.

@jollster101: thats pretty much with any return process…

            • @Mario g: Can't say I agree, returning other stuff has been simple and straightforward. Nothing like Emma's experience.

Maybe you have been even more unlucky than I Mario if all your returns have gone south.

              • @jollster101: probably from Columbia clothing, ebay to binglee ..they are all terrible to deal with i think im used to it now.

the donating to charity is a pretty regular occurance with any of these bed in a box companies, i returned my sleep republic mattress and it was picked up by the salvos, there were probably 1 or 2 phone calls involved in this process from my end, but it was easy. Honestly it sounds like your own stubborness made the process harder than it needed to be.

        • +1

Maybe donating to charity is a regular occurrence. Maybe they should state that on their website.
Maybe they should say that the reason our mattresses are so well priced is that should you wish to gain a refund, you have to arrange for the collection of the mattress yourself.

But they don't…… Pulled straight from the Emma website just now

          "100 Night Trial
Try out the Emma Mattress risk-free with our 100-night trial! If it's not for you, we'll give you a full refund and handle the returns at no cost to you."

Don't advertise it if you can't be bothered, or have no intention, to fulfil it.

Sleep Republic actively say they donate to the salvos on their website so that's great. They do what they say.

  • How do they compare with Koala mattress?

    • At the moment, almost $100 cheaper.

      • Any thoughts on the difference in quality between 2

  • I’ve got the anti gravity mattress and it’s amazing

    • I've been looking at them. When did you buy it and how much did you pay?

      • I got it 2 weeks ago and I payed $3300 for the king but that was also including there cheapest bed frame which is actually pretty good also

        • yep a $3300 king vs a $859 emma… i hope its better because you get what you paid for.

          • @Mario g: Well don’t think the cheapest is the best but there anti gravity one is made in Germany not like the others I can have a drink bottle standing up next to me and move and it dosnt tip over and has so much better support for my back

            • @pippos: i think you misunderstood - i was saying you get what you paid for, being cheaper i wouldn't expect it to be the best it is always like that with anything…

we picked up a king zero gravity from the salvos for $360 a month back.
Good to hear you've found it good but we found it a bit firm. The Emma mattresses are only 25cm high vs most other brands of 30cm or more.
We put a 5cm topper on it and definitely better but may get a 7-8cm topper down the track as we currently have the mattress stored and using a previous kmart hybrid which we find comfier.

We've trialled the Onebed X which we found quite comfy.
Our older spare mattress is the ozbargain favourite ZZZ Atelier which was comfy but is starting to sag a little.

Honestly wouldn't pay the emma prices compared to a lot of the other online hybrid brands.

Try your local salvos or gumtree.

  • My daughter bought one, was delivered in two days.
She messaged about the topper and they replied the next day and she received the topper after two days. She’s pretty happy with the mattress and the customer service.

    • lets hope you won't have to rely on their 100 day trial promise

  • I don't have their mattress but late last year was having awful neck problems and decided I'd try a latex pillow. Looked at all the options and with a lot of trepidation spent $100 on an Emma one figuring j would send it back anyway.

My neck has been so much better since it's hard to believe and now I am one of those people that drags their pillow away with them haha.
