look, im not sure if this should be here as it's not on special, but I've noticed the price of beer the past year is astronomical. I haven't tried this beer, but all the reviews seem quite positive. for the price i think it's worth a shot, I ordered 2x24 packs and 2x12 packs and it came to a total of $102.60 = $1.45 per beer with free shipping

What's up with the new liquorland branding?

    • +30

The client: "We want to make it feel like an upper class destination for liqour, not just the place you walk past on the way from Coles."

Marketing consultant: "Make the logo black"

      Marketing consultant: "That'll be $500k."

just on the weekend I noticed the change and thought… is Coles going to merge Liquorland with Vintage Cellars?!

        • +4

At this point is there really much point in them being separate brands? They can change First Choice to Big Liquorland while they're at it

          • +1

@beltdrive: Perhaps the illusion of choice? But yeah, if you can swipe a Flybuys card there, they probably aren't tricking many.

$29 for a case is very cheap for any beer really, I reckon its a deal.

  • Waiting for some LL love from CR/SB

    Nakel Label Beers 12x500mL Cans

    Nakel ?

    • +4

Well in Hindi, a Nakel is the pin fixed in a camel's nose.. aaand at 4% ABV that's probably exactly what it tastes like. A camel's nose - watery and slightly off.

  • tbh I don't mind the pilsner. Haven't tried the lager, not really into the half litre format

72 beers is a lot of checking - many might have been inclined to grab a cheeky 6-pack to make sure it made the cut. But hey.

    • +1

Didn’t want to pay postage 😂 none of the locals had it in stock

  • +3

The pilsner is ok. The lager is hideous.

im not a beer snob by any means, but i truly did not enjoy this beer

    • +3

Glad I didn't just shell out for 72 beers without tasting haha. Hope OP doesn't regret.

      • +3

Natural Blonde at Aldi for $36 is pretty good.

      • Ty OP didn't realise the 24 was for the Pilsner.

    • before the 10% off code…

I got this in a previous promo, I think the Pilsner was surprisingly drinkable. Had a hint of hoppiness, I'd like a little more, okay colour but it was crisp and pleasant. Slightly sweet, and easy to drink. I think it compares well to other cheap Pilsners.

The lager was drinkable, but no real hoppiness or body. It just tasted a bit watery, to be honest. Similar problem to Hammer 'N' Tongs, if anyone has had their cheap lager. Maybe slightly ahead of that or an Uberbrau but not much else.

    • Uberbrau is actually pretty decent.

  • +1

    i think it's worth a shot

…then buys 72 beers, you just really making sure it's Ok to drink?

    • +1

Ha, could well be a lot of donkeys piss but it's a 'deal'.
Maybe the op should taste some and report back.

  • I have been drinking this, Id give it 8/10 worth the price

  • Mystery Spanish and Portuguese beers…

  • Bought a 24 pack for $28.00!
    Keen to try

  • Got the lager last night, for the price its worth it, but I wouldn't pay any more than the $25. I probably wouldn't go back unless they popped up for $15 or so. The guy at my local said "huh, seem to be selling a lot of these today" lol.

I have to say it looked pretty weak sitting at double the height of my 1.6 std brookvale union premix lol.

I have purchased the larger cans on numerous occasions over the past few years and find them to be a pleasant and refreshing lager. Although slightly weaker than my personal preference, considering the price, I have no complaints. Typically, I use it as a mixer with Soju, and none of my friends have expressed dissatisfaction with the taste. Regarding the pilsner, I recently gave it a try and would say it offers good value for the money, especially when paired with cashback offers. However, I might not purchase it at its full price.

  • I love a good, cheap lager but I wasnt a fan TBH. For the price point I prefer to get Hollandia on sale: https://bws.com.au/product/717137/hollandia-beer-500ml

Right now that's 40% cashback at BWS: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/782655

Can get a proper beer then :)

  • The excise on these is over $13, that's why it's expensive.
