If so, what items do you subscribe to periodically there and what intervals?

    • The cleaning stuff? If so, link me up :)

      • Just search on ebay and buy with a price you like.

A while back i tried to make my own fluid from an ozb recipe but i couldnt get it working.

Nearly 600 purchases on eBay UK (since 2008) but not a single one made here in past 5+ years.

Partly because it's just full of mass produced junk nowadays and rare to find good deals on used stuff with all the added fees, and partly because… well I guess just growing up.

Which means less interested in little trinkets, cheap covers, dodgy cables and Pokemon cards and whatnot. More disposable income to buy stuff new from Amazon with a focus on quality & warranty than fallacy of saving pennies on garbage.

Same ….. but different - I bought alot on Amazon US (pre-kids) but nothing since the Australian site launched.

I've made hundreds of purchases on ebay over the years, with a peak between 2010 and 2016, but i've really dropped off for some of the reasons you gave - it seems to be more and more cheap aliexpress junk and drop-ship sellers ordering something off amazon.
Deals seems to be generally worse even when you find bespoke ads - maybe due to fees, maybe because there is a lot more of a hustle/second hand market nowadays - this affects gumtree, fb marketplace etc too.

    • You buy from eBay UK and ship to Australia?

      • Nope, back when I was in the UK and Amazon didn't have such a strong grip on every product line.

Yep, eBay was far better as a used marketplace, where you could find quality or obscure items. Now it's just an AliExpress drop shipping platform.

      • Amazon seems to be going the same direction now but, going by the number of obscure brand names you see on there.

Yep - I buy plenty of second hand stuff. Plenty of stuff like computer hardware, consumer electronics…etc. are good value second hand. I'm busy and don't have time to drive around and meet up with people, so eBay is still much better than Gumtree / FB Marketplace.

The regular 22% off eBay Plus deals are also decent for stuff like computer hardware. Obviously not 22% off the price you can usually get them at elsewhere, but still works out to be a lower price than other alternative computer shops.

I made them expanding the cart from 50 to 100 items.
Gotta reward crappy stores with crappy buyers!
    Phone protectors seem ok though.

I buy alcohol from ebay almost exclusively (vodka and gin), a lot of my clothes come from ebay (mostly 2nd hand), electronics/appliances from eBay/gumtree and concert/sporting tickets occasionally.

    (I don’t subscribe to anything)

The old boozebud deals were amazing, I bought most of my alcohol through their ebay store when they price matched Dans and put their online specials on their ebay store then allowed coupons on top.

Not surprising they went into administration though, I assume they just burned through capital for years just trying to keep up.

      • Bugger, didn’t realize they were gone!

  • Lately, yes. It depends sometimes there are items cheaper on Amazon (I have Amazon Prime) so I buy there, but sometimes eBay is cheaper for other things. So it just depends on what I am looking for and what is cheapest (including delivery).

Recently buying much more from Aliexpress.

I find Aliexpress only slightly better than Wish. Just full of poor quality junk that takes forever to arrive and almost never what was correctly advertised.

    Mailing boxes, Auspost satchels, stamps.

  • Nah, takes too long. If i forget i ordered it by the time it arrives then i don't need it.

    Nothing regularly but….

I was looking for a dome light (the light on the ceiling that turns on when the door opens) for my Honda. I checked many wreckers around Perth and they wanted $60+ . I got it off Ebay posted from Sydney for $25.

  • Non genuine laser printer cartridges. Bit of hit and miss though.
