  • Pretty awesome looking watch - anyone here replaced theirs with sapphire glass?

    • +3

It's a Citizen classic for skinny wrists. Not sure why you'd do that unless it was out of warranty which is 5 years and heavily scratched.

      • Would plan to keep it for the long haul. 10 years time a spare sapphire glass would be essential

        • -3

And then what happens when you scratch the sapphire glass? Buy another sapphire glass? Why not just buy multiple replacement mineral glass if so worried?

          • @onlinepred: You haven't browse the seiko modding community - some things are just for the sake of the upgrade.

            • +1

@Perrino: Very confused, isn't this a Citizen? Are you a part of the Seiko modding community? Are you planning to mod this into a Citytona?

          • +1

@onlinepred: I have a 30+ watch collection. I've managed ot scratch some mineral and Seiko hardlex crystals, it's only a matter of time if you wear the watch enough. I have never managed scratched a sapphire crystal. Not even cheaper sapphire crystals on aliexpress watches and mod sites.

            • @h3rbz: Sapphire scratches for sure, if you are skilled like me. And you can't polish it out either. Obviously Sapphire is better, but at this price point surely not a big consideration

              • +1

@onlinepred: Came here to say this as well. If you've not scratched a sapphire glass, you've not tried hard enough.

If you are going to mod this.. might as well just pay a little extra and get yourself a baltany or san martin. I find those two just as good and SM qc is pretty solid. IMHO of cause.

      • Yes just worry about it if/when the time comes - I wouldn't bother modding and potentially mucking up the seal especially on divers, and cheap watches.

For a $159 watch? That reminds me of a joke about Lada, the pride of Russian automobiles.

How do you double the value of a Lada?

      Fill it up with petrol.

    • I've bought one of these thing, 34mm for mine.
I'll let you know how it goes when/if it arrives.

    Nice!!

I bought this recently on a weekend sale at $169 and it's great. I love the look & texture of the dial which isn't easy to see in photos. Note that the second hand is only used for the chronograph feature, it's not full-time sweeping. The sub-dial at 6 o'clock takes over this duty and shows seconds elapsing.

    • Thanks for the heads up but I'm wondering how Random Rob got it ticking in the video then?

Edit - Never mind, he says the chrono is running at 00.56.

    • Is it hard to read at a glance.. white dial and white hands, seems like a very non contrasting combinations.

      • I agree the black outline on the hands could be thicker, but I've not had any trouble. In fact, I bought because I wanted something with Arabic numerals that was very legible. Tell you what - those luminous hands certainly light up in the dark!

The value for money for these cheaper EcoDrives is exceptional.

Tempting. That silver/grey dial is fairly unique, and the subdials stop it from looking too plain. The strap is a bit ugh, it would be swapped out quick smart.

Tell you what though, if the CA0739-13H came up on a daily deal I'd grab it instantly. Hint, hint.

    • A while ago I bought several watches from starbuy, I gave them a call first and they were happy to offer further discounts. Never hurts to ask.

      Holy.. shit.

Why did you link that watch!??? What a beauty and i told myself I'm not going to get anymore..

      Damn!!

      • +2

Deepak dropped it to $199. I've added it to the post @Astronaut Joe.

Ask and ye shall receive I guess! Duly ordered! :)

Of course, that made the decision on the original AT0200 easy, it shall have to wait for another day.

        • +3

Why are you doing this… why?

Is making me poor funny to you?

          ordered 😞

Must resist…. Too many many good watch deals last two weeks!
Just got myself a Berny Mondiaine homage so will have to use the excuse that I already have a white dial watch to hold off for now :-)

  • Received my AT0200-13A today. Holes in the band doesn't suite my wrist ether too loose or too tight. Any reasonably priced options for alternative bands or should I return it?
    First "not smart" watch…

    • Just get a NATO or something. If you have a few other watches you could look at Barton silicon elites from. The US, sign up discounts etc

  • Dammit missed again!

    • The CA0739-13H is still $199.00.

  • Please bring back the deal for Citizen Eco-Drive Chrono AT0200-13A
