Not the same model, but very similar… I made a couple of short videos for those who is interested in quality of recording:
    1. Early morning drive, sun directly at camera: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMn35KhJDfM
    2. Parking mode test. People detection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDoD2q3YWcs
    3. Parking mode test. Car detection: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG_Ig2v-3ho

Yes, I had to purchase a hardwire kit..
Have it for 2 years now, no regrets.
    Hope helps someone…

Thanks for this awesome share. In the original video, can you see the UTE's place number at https://youtu.be/DMn35KhJDfM?t=38?. I was wondering it became illegible after YouTube's compression.

I always think of Linus Tech Tip’s video when dashcam deals pop up: https://youtu.be/4AnyhHl3_tE

Basically, for reading plates it’s not amazing. There are many reasons to get a dashcam, but I wouldn’t only depend on a dashcam for license plate.

        • +1

          Thanks 👍

    • Does it have Speed Camera alerts?

    • +2

Same here. My viofo going strong..I also bought hardwire kit separately. Learnt how to do it myself from YouTube

    • +1

Likewise here is my viofo 4K video hooning around the US in 2021. Great dashcam - although it ate cheap SDCards. It only likes top shelf

      https://youtu.be/5Bv9OJ7svjg

  • Is it easy to DIY dash cam?

    • +4

Yes, I did it myself. You need a bit of basic knowledge and be mindful of airbags locations. Here is short and amateur video of hardwiring it on Kia Cerato: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tupfm6-VKpo
I think the most challenging part was tapping hardwiring (find the right fuse) for parking mode (moving objects detection).

    • Be aware of the length of the cable to the rear camera and determine if it is long enough especially if you want to run the cable up and down to avoid the side airbag. It wasn't long enough for my Golf wagon so i suspect it might not be for SUVs. I ended installing on the wife's Mazda 3 where the length was just right.

      • Take my comment back, didn't realise it's for a cabin camera. But still valid if planning to buy the set with the rear camera.

  • +1

Hopefully front and rear model will be on sale soon

    • What's the name of the model with rear camera?

      • +1

        Plus Duo

    • +1

The interior camera can be used as a rear camera as well.

      • Have you actually done this?

        • +1

          Yep

      • Wouldnt the IR reflect of the window causing it to over expose?

        • +1

You can change the settings to not use IR

  • +3

Always get confused with those. Pro and Plus. One is great, one avoid like the plague. Which is which again?

Plus Duo is 1440p 60hz front camera and separate chipset in rear camera to prevent overheating - GOOD
Pro Duo is 4k 30hz front camera, with front camera chipset also encoding rear camera video, leading to front camera overheating issues - BAD

I have this dashcam installed and would NOT recommend it unless you absolutely need 4K recording

I would instead recommend the A129 Plus Duo. I don't really like 4K recording as it's limited to 30fps. Not as smooth as a 1440p 60fps recording.

Rear camera is limited to 1080p 30fps when both cameras are recording. Pro Duo can do 4K 30fps + 1080 30fps or 1440p 60fps + 1080p 30fps. 1440p 60fps + 1080p 30fps is the same as the Plus Duo, so it doesn't really offer any additional advantages other than the option of 4K 30fps (personally, I find that the disadvantage of the lower 1440p resolution is outweighed by the advantage of the far smoother video).

Plus Duo rear camera has its own chipset - so the front camera doesn't have to work as hard. There have been heat issues with the Pro Duo, likely due to single chipset working overtime.

    • That's more expensive?

      • +3

Proper rear camera, not the cheaper "interior cabin" camera.

        • +2

Oh awesome, this is way better

        • Thanks for the tip! These are OOS, but I will be keeping an eye out for this deal again. How are you able to spot the difference between the interior/exterior versions of the rear camera? Nothing stood out between these two versions for me (ebay vs amazon links)

          • +1

@SiriousLee: The interior camera has the little infrared LEDs on the side of the sensor lens.

    • +1

      Daym..oos

    • $210 for me, whoooo!

  • +3

This is the inside cabin one rather than a rear one. The ebay link by CrushJelly is a much better option.

  • Any discounts without the inside camera?

  • This one is a bit expensive for me. Can anyone recommend a front view only dashcam that isn't crazy expensive (<$75) but also isn't rubbish?

    • +2

no. this or the A119 is the bare minimum you want to buy. the rest is trash quality. you can't even read out the license plate that hit you.

  • Any deals for the A139?

  • +1

A deal for the A139 Pro would be great 😀

  • If only we can use this for a road bike. Much cheaper than my stupid Garmin RTC715 that cannot connect to my iphone bluetooth properly.

    • you can, just hardwire it.

      • And mount it where?

      • Also waterproof.

    • Note quite, the one on this thread has a 1440p front camera, whilst the one you linked has a 1080p front camera. The extra $10-$20 is definitely worth it to get the Plus Duo model.

  • +2

I dont know why the hell you want to record your passengers. I have the A129 Plus Duo - Front/Rear camera and its awesome!
Got it for $200 3 months ago

Looks like they changed the link to
    https://www.amazon.com.au/VIOFO-Emergency-Recording-Capacito…

    • +1

For Uber drivers. But you can install the IR internal cam at the rear if you wanted to.

      • Good point but for the average Aussie
        Only front/rear makes sense

        • Then move the interior camera to the rear position.

    • most products are made keeping USA as top priority. Gun culture shootings(by police or passengers) make it really useful to have internal recordings.
      secondly for taxi drivers.

    • +2

I have heaps of the Viofo dash cams, installed in various cars
      - 119
      - 129 Plus Duo
      - 129 Pro Duo
      - 139 2k version

The 3 channel 139 is useful for situations where I want to record my own driving to make sure no automated camera or police officer will try to fine me for not having my seatbelt on or for touching my phone. The video will make for irrefutable evidence.

      • Which do you recommend for 1 front camera only?

  • Suggestions on a mobile service in Sydney to professionally install?

    • Dashboy or Bendas Installation.

Bendas has installed probably around 8 dashcams for us.

      • They'll install these? I was looking on Dashboy's page and it looked like he only did Blackvue. I'll send him a message.

  • +1

I'm fed up with my BlackVue. Crappy app. Crappy connection continuously.
Have PMP fitted, with the 750 2ch.

Downloading videos is annoying and overly tedious.
The new app is totally crap.

Am I upgrading from 750s 2ch, to Viofo? Or is it a slight downgrade?
Particularly want front and rear camera. With fulltime parking mode/hardwire kit

    • Viofo gives better image compared to Blackvue. But I still go with Blackvue due to its built quality and stability (yes, blackvue is expensive) .I've been using my 650 for 9 years without any overheating issues or missed recordings. However, image quality is not as good as other high end dashcams, also app sucks, I only use card reader. I'm thinking upgrading to 900 since the 970 model is already available in US, and the 900 2ch is currently on sale on Amazon US, about 600aud delivered.

  • It is oos

  • This one much better than blueskysea bw1?

    • hows yours going? when i click the button on the side it doesnt save the 'moment' anymore - at least it doesnt say it… havent pulled the memory card to check. purhcased 2020

      • mine still says lock file when pressed. think its still working
