My experience with the V8 model - the wide is not actually wide. I wore the previous XA 3D Pro model in wide and it was my favourite shoe. I bought the V8 in wide when it was released and not only found that it was very narrow, especially in the toebox, but that the overall fit and build quality was inferior to the previous model.
Edit: Having said the above, my feet are very, very wide. I always go for 4E/H width when available, so black Asics are often my only option…
I'm in the same boat.
Have tried stretching Salomons but to no avail.
Pegasus Trail 3 Goretex's fit my 4E flippers pretty well, not as good as my Asics/Brooks 4E's but close enough.
Keen NXIS EVO Mids also fit pretty good.
I basically have to order my shoes from the USA where wide shoes are available in more styles.
Love the look of the new keen NXIS!
Don't mind the exposed mesh in reality though.

This shoe is built like a tank. Just need some tape at the bottom of the laces to buffer the wire-cutting effect slicing into the gore-tex upper mesh
poor traction and very slippery on city/urban surfaces due to its lugs
gone through 3 pairs back-to-back in the past 7 years, great shoes : )
I was going to get these for wet weather into the city, thanks for warning.
no worries mate,
for outdoor, the lugs are solid, they are hard enough to sink a little into surface, they give me good confidence with grips
for city/urban surfaces, they are like walking on soapy surfaces esp. when you walk over manhole covers, they just slide because these lugs are too hard to grip
I have slipped and fell wearing them on a rainy day :/
May I ask what have you gone for wet city shoes?
@Yebro: I still wear my XA pro 3D GTX on dry days because I still have a good amount of lug depth, but I won't be buying them again unless they drop to ridicolous prices (purchased mine at $75)
I use a pair of Saucony Freedom ISO as alternative because I wanted to try their bouncy foam back then
Can you explain a little more where you put the tape to protect the upper? I just bought a pair and want to make sure I maintain them well

Really annoys me how Salomon does not sell 12.5US in Australia. 12 is slightly too small and 13 a bit too large. Always have to go for the 13 and wear thicker socks..
The .5 means the are a wider fit, it doesnt affect the length of the shoe
I think that may be a myth or case of yesteryear. Salomon do offer a 'wide' in some models- their half sizes show a 0.5CM increase in length, the width change likely won't even be noticeable.
I thought it was always the case that their shoes run very narrow but I bought a pair of Quest4DX boots 5 years ago and they run massive in all dimensions, the speedcross and XA my foot barely fits.
sometimes yes, sometimes no. more often with UK/AU sizing than US.
Invest in a shoe stretcher.
I thought those were for leather shoes.

The Salomon website lists the non-Goretex versions as running shoes & the Goretex versions as hiking shoes. I'm after Goretex trail running shoes. I understand that hiking shoes are generally stiffer than running shoes. So, is there actually a Goretex version trail running shoe as opposed to a Goretex version hiking shoe, or are they actually the same thing in the Salomon world?
