And my MSN account will be hacked?

No. This is legit, all your data is in Microsoft's server. I have no access to password's, real name's etc.

      • OP. Whilst the data is held in Microsoft's servers, you still can access full name, and some limited data.
I've been giving "Windows Live Custom Domains" (It's "Windows Live Admin Centre" now) since 2005, when it was still in beta.

Whilst I do appreciate that you're offering people free e-mail addresses, and doubt that you're trying to rip anyone off, the possibility is there, and that's something OzBargainers won't risk.

Seriously though OP, I have MANY free accounts (I've had to request a limit increase on the number of accounts multiple times), and now it's just a pain in the ass. There are too many accounts to manage, and many of them are scammers.
Whilst I won't stop offering the service, I'm very close to considering closing off new registrations.

Good luck with your service, and nice domain name :-)

nah, buy your own domain ($8/year for a .com) and get a cheap or free webhosting plan. domain name of your liking. total control of your domain. as many email addresses as you want.

    • This is OzBargain… ($8/year is too much)

Get a free domain name - Such as: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/79404
Get a free DNS server: http://mybind.com/
Get a free Windows Live Admin Centre Account: http://domains.live.com/

Set your DNS servers at the domain manager to the NameServers that MyBind provides
Set your MX record at MyBind.com to the one WLAC provides
      Done.

No need for any cheap or free web hosting.

  • Although you have a Microsoft account, hacker.org.au, as the domain owner, controls the email address. hacker.org.au may decide to discontinue your email service at any time and you will lose your email address and the contents of your email account.

So not for any email or contacts you value.

  • hacker.org.au provides email addresses powered by Microsoft account. Although you have a Microsoft account, hacker.org.au, as the domain owner, controls the email address. hacker.org.au may decide to discontinue your email service at any time and you will lose your email address and the contents of your email account.

    EDIT: beaten by 6 seconds.

      I would not delete anyone's account….

      • That's not the point. hacker.org.au may decide to discontinue the service and you lose access to it and then you have to inform all those people you gave the address to.

The domain has been re-registered for another 2 years as of today. It's not going anywhere. And I am the admin. I would not delete your account.

Microsoft would delete your account if you where spamming, but they have captcha in place until you verify your account.

        • .

        • No.

        • .

        • Careful guys. If uprisingempires is the admin and it's his posts here: http://hacker.org.au/
Then I wouldn't use the email for anything serious. Looking at some of the posts makes me think he will get paranoid at your username and delete you.

Or maybe I'm just being paranoid :P

The irony — background image of the blog says

UNIX — Where there is a shell, there is a way

and then at the bottom of the page trying to sell Microsoft-Live powered free emails.

I do not think it is a deal (and has already been moved by the moderators).

    1. Although MSN hosts the emails, YOU own the domain and your users have to trust you not to (1) abandon the domain, or (2) move the MX to elsewhere.
    2. Not sure how Anchor let you register the domain, but where can I find the information about this non-profit organisation "CREATIVELY INSANE COMMUNITIES"? Does that "organisation" even meet the criteria under SCHEDULE F of auDA domain policy? If not, then the domain is not legitimately registered, and it can be taken back by auDA anytime.

For anyone thinking of signing up — don't.

  • using this as my fake account :P for ozbargain deal..lol
