  • So what's a decent equivalent for those of us that can't get any cabling to the front door? I.e. wireless and using battery.

  • Curse it!!!! Just made it less of a deal for myself by ordering an 18m Ethernet cable. Totally forgot I have 2 left over from my last Reolink camera install.

  • Anybody manage to get the price difference credited or refunded from the last $160 deal?

    • I paid ~$170 and got refunded the difference to $160 from the last deal, - so always worth a shot!

    • let us know if you manage to get anywhere with them!

  • Besides receiving parcels,

Why would you want to be contactable 24/7 virtually anywhere in the world via video intercom?

ie. inlaws, solar sales, charities, religious grifters and RE agents?

A dumb or non existent doorbell is often an advantage

    • +2

You don't have to answer, often this is just used to record someone who comes to your door so you are aware or for evidence

    • It's a pretty good way to screen out all of those people, rather than answering the door in person.

Also, it can alert you of (and record) those who come to your house but don't actually ring the bell, which can be even more useful.

      • Interesting, why would someone visit and not ring/knock?

        • +1

Steal a package in front of the door?

  • Picked up the double PoE pack and worked out to be $257.24, under 130 each, probably should have been added to the OP

    • -1

Most peeps here don't like getting filmed cumming in the back door

  • Got mine today. Installed fine. Initially didn't do much with my Reolink NVR but once I updated the firmware on both the NVR and the doorbell it seems to work quite good with pretty quick notification once someone presses the button.

NOTE: When I tried to do an automatic firmware update, it told me I already had the latest firmware on both. I had to manually download the latest from Reolink to get the later firmware.

    • Do you use the app as well ? If so were you able to add the doorbell as a device ?

      • I use the app. I was not able to add the doorbell by itself. it adds via the NVR and the notification comes from the doorbell via the NVR. Notification is about as quick as you would expect a notification via the internet to be

        • Also, you have to update the firmware directly from the NVR. The app doesn't seem to support this.

  • Do you know a good 48V PoE Injector for this, so I can use it without the Reolink NVR?
Does Active PoE or passive PoE for this device matter?

    • a bit pricier, but the safer option for my requirement is TL-PoE150S.
