TGG came up at $294 for me, less 15% and 4% cash back.

    Costco online sells for 299

    • The black one is better, one single surface to clean. Had it for years and it's a great microwave/

Harvey Norman has it for $299 less 15% ("Extra15" promo code) $254.15

    • Which store is that? I assume it's not Harvey Norman since the code doesn't work

Edit: the code is for good guys

Edit: I think the stainless steel one is $369 at good guys though

Keep in mind this is a stainless steel exterior finish, looks like the interior is enamel.

    • -1

my understanding was all microwaves are coated with enamel . any steel on the inside will cause an explosion or fire because of the way microwave ovens work

      • +3

Your understanding is defeated by one Google search. The internals of a microwave are made to be part Faraday cage to contain the microwaves, and part thermal conductor of the process.

All will have some level of metal surrounds, while stainless (or painted) steel cavities transfer and retain more heat. There are also ceramic or acrylic variations that are considered inferior, and any of them other than stainless steel may have an enamel coating paint, so my apologies on confusing ceramic/enamel with just the latter.

Putting additional metal inside that carefully configured process is not something you should ever do as it may cause an arc. You want painted steel or stainless steel because they are more energy efficient overall, sustain less damage and retain less odors.

          thank you jasswolf

you will either love or hate the melody, don't expect the user manual to tell you how to shut it up (yes it is possible)

    • hate the melody

Same with LG dishwashers - the most obnoxious, electronic "melody" to announce it's finished…

      • +1

google will tell you how to turn it off but not LG, problem with the microwave is turn the power off it resets & the melody comes back

Hold clear and auto reheat at once to disable. Been a game changer and now i love the unit

      • I actually found that out before I bought it fortunately

Isn’t this the infamous wifi killer microwave?

    • +1

Don't all microwaves interfere with wifi?

      • Not my panasonic microwave.

For context. My router is mounted on the other side of a kitchen wall. In the living room next to an open kitchen. That is no door just a gap in the wall to get into the kitchen.

So if my microwave wanted to play silly buggers with my wifi or bluetooth for that matter it has all the open space to do it.

        • I reckon if you were to use your phone next to your microwave when it’s running the wifi won’t work.

          • @Kjookk: So i had my tablet on top of the microwave while i cooked a bag of popcorn for 2 minutes. Playing a 4k youtube video that i have never watched before and the wifi did not drop out. Video didn't even stutter.

At the same time had my phone also connected to wifi. This was placed by the side of the microwave. Playing a live streaming youtube video. That too didnt drop out either.

Now before anyone try roast me. I don't doubt that this is a not problem. I'm sure it is. Just saying my microwave don't have this problem.

            • @xoom: Very interesting result. Thanks for the experiment!

            • @xoom: 5GHz or 2.4GHz wifi?

              • @Lukian: I will check both when i get a chance.

    • Yes! It's like an EMP when running. Kills wifi and Bluetooth in the kitchen when running.

    • Yeah I am curious now. I have this and just thought it was normal for a microwave to kill wireless devices while running. If others dont do this, I will have to keep that in mind when i eventually need to replace this

My panasonic microwave doesn't do it.

    • yes though I've never had a problem

$299 at JB. Seems like it's on sale everywhere
HN is the last place I would buy it.

  • Code didn’t work for me for the model MS4296OSS

  • +1

Would not give my hard earned to Gerry

I've had mine for about 6 months. Nice oven. Likes: Very quiet, bright light, powerful, capacitive touch. Dislikes: you need to turn the oven off at the wall to change the time.

    • and no built in timer function

  • +1

If you can get past the tune it's a great microwave. Very quiet, heats well and evenly and spacious inside. I like the slider at the front door time as I never use other functions anyway so just time and start.

It does seem to affect wifi a little, but only if right next to it and microwave is never on for a long time anyway.

But yes, price match somewhere else so you don't give Gerry Harvey any money.

If you're happy with second hand look at FB marketplace. I picked up my 2 year old one in perfect condition for $100

  • We've got one at work and gets a good workout come lunch time but I've seen it cheaper

  • https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-42l-1200w-neochef-inverter… This model is supposed to be good as well for those who dont want 100% touch screen. Comes down to about $296.

  • I bought this LG (or equivalent) model from Harvey Norman , it barely lasted three years and was not used heavily. Most of the controls are behind the door too which makes for cumbersome operation. Absolute junk…..

I replaced this LG 'junk' with a $99 'no-name' model from Big W and have never been happier with any microwave I owned.

  • How does this compared to the Panasonic 44L Cyclonic Inverter Sensor Microwave for just an extra few dollars? Would have though the Panasonic would be built better than the LG
