    I'd recommend getting some cheap aftermarket ear caps from ebay. The thermometer won't work without one. Alternatively, just use an alcohol wipe after each use.

      Second this. Although I bought mine off AliExpress, 20 pieces for $1.06 + $1.57 postage. (bought a few packs and postage was still at $1.57 for 5 x 20 PCS)

        That's what he's talking about. The caps are disposable one time use supposedly. Or just disinfect and reuse. Or buy them off AliExpress as above.

    Sorry I'm first time dad, is this a normal price for a baby (newborn) thermometer ? I can see cheaper one ~30-$50 (forehead, armpit).

      In ear thermometers aren’t recommended until 6 months of age. Should use armpit beforehand. The forehead ones I would avoid completely as they can be pretty inaccurate.

      It comes down to accuracy and features - keep in mind you'll have to either clean or replace the ear filters for this model.

      This one should be fine with a newborn - I bought it for the same else it makes zero sense to have a 0-3 month setting.

      We got one and has worked well for us. Accuracy might not be as good as an in ear (or rectal…!) but let’s be honest if your kids 39.9° or 40° your probably be trying a few times and your treatment will probably be the same.

      Has disposable ear caps that you can gentle wipe to remove wax to reuse.

      When it comes to family use it doesn't really matter to reuse them

    Highly recommend this. It was a lot more expensive during covid but it is a great product. Be mindful that non official replacement caps off eBay are a lot cheaper but may not fit as well as the official Braun ones.

    make sure to always keep two, one in-ear and one forehead. When baby is asleep, the last thing you want is to shove in their ear and wake them up

    Got one for our baby shower and its still going strong 18 months on. It does take a little while to load up which can be annoying in the middle of the night but it works well and the age selector is handy.
