What's One Piece of Kit or Software You Have Got through a Bargain or Other That You Find Invaluable?

I was wondering what's one software or deal or tech kit has proved invaluable for you guys?

Personally I got display fusion through Oz bargain and gl.inet router. And I'm not forgetting the boost mobile deals.

Love to hear your views and get another great find

    Adobe cloud sub via turkey.
I get my value out of it with just acrobat pro, daily - let alone the rest of the suite.

    YouTube premium via India sub

    • I missed on this. I will grab this soon

    • I'm still paying the $23 a month student rate, I've been paying that for over a decade now, except for a year or tow I went up to the $44 a month student renewal rate. I feel like a chump seeing how cheap the turkey method is.

      • I was paying about 44 for ages too - but was still getting value out of it. For my job, adobe pro saves a heap of time when I quickly need to edit a data sheet for a specific project proposal etc

  • Directory Opus - organising files, appears to be more stable than Windows Explorer for MTP.

    M700 - home server.

Probably the $49 Logitech Gaming mouse. Still on the hunt for another one so I can leave it at the office instead of dragging it home every day.

Boost for sure - I was able to stack with cashback last time. Can't believe I used to spend $80 a month on a plan.

    • Same for me for the case of boost. Don't pay 70 to 80$ per month now

    • Mine is still in it's box, waiting to take over from my 502 Lightspeed!

      • It's really nice. I discovered I much prefer light mice with fast response times. Can't use my MX Master 3 anymore. I should sell it.

  • The $200 Breville stand mixer. Makes good pizza dough.

    • What recipe do you use?

Instant yeast, sugar, oil, flour, water, salt. Ferment somewhere warm for an hour, or use less yeast and ferment in fridge for three days like Dominos does.

        • What ratios?

          • @frondono: I started with 7g of instant yeast per 500g of dough weight with a recipe I found online, but it expanded way too quickly, tripled in an hour in Luke warm oven. So now I use 2.5g and ferment somewhere Luke warm for 2 hours, or much less yeast if fermenting days in the fridge. The bottom of the dough ball gets a little slimy and gross after a few days but that's totally normal, I remember it was the same at the pizza place I worked at as a kid.

I remember the pizza place used some kind of "dough enhancer", probably flavours and something to relax gluten or whatever. I'm thinking of adding garlic powder to the dough mix.

    MS Paint.

  • I do love my Logitech K780 keyboard - being able to switch between laptop, ipad and phone is fantastic. $60 at Officeworks, can't remember what retail was.

None of my IT gear is through 'deals' unless it's a secondhand thing. I'm picky enough about tech gear that I want what I want and will not be swayed by offers for some competing product that isn't quite the right thing.

Best tech gear I've bought secondhand would be Ruckus wireless APs, which kick the absolute crap out of the Unifi gear they replaced. They've ranged from around 80-150 depending on model. Though off memory one of them was $20 because the seller just didn't care and wanted to be rid of it.
