Squale 1545 Swiss Diver $899, Citizen Automatic NB6004-83E Titanium Sapphire Watch $749 Delivered @ Starbuy

150

I am wearing this Squale right now. I never heard of this brand but bought it last friday, and got it today. It's a well made Swiss watch for under 1k with good specs and a common easy to service movement. I'd put on par with Fortis, and better than Glycine.

The Squale 1545 series Classic Grey Bracelet 1545GG.AC is an automatic movement watch with a 300m water resistance rating. The 1545GG.AC features a classic grey dial and bezel with highly luminous Superluminova C1 treatment on the hands and the markers along with a stainless steel case and brushed Stainless Steel bracelet. This model uses flat Sapphire Crystal with anti-reflective treatment.
The case size of the Squale 1545GG.AC is 40mm with a thickness of 12mm, lug-to-lug of 48mm and a lug width of 20mm. The case back is polished 316 L Stainless Steel. The lockdown screw in crown is at the 3'o clock marker and the case back is screw in. The Unidirectional stainless steel bezel is matching grey with a ceramic insert.
The Squale 1545GG.AC uses the Sellita SW200-1 mechanical automatic movement with a frequency of 28800 a/h (4Hz) and uses 26 jewels. The movement has a power reserve of 38 hours.

Citizen Automatic NB6004-83E

Citizen Mechanical collection Automatic Promaster Marine NB6004-83E. The all encompassing ISO compliant dive watch featuring a one-way rotating elapsed bezel, screw lock crown in a Super Titanium case and bracelet. Finished with Sapphire glass and featuring the new Calibre 9051. The NB6004-83E features a 46mm case and is Made in Japan.

The new Cal. 9051 movement uses anti-magnetic materials for the balance spring and surrounding components to boost the overall magnetic resistance of the watch. This new model is capable of maintaining performance even when placed 1 centimeter from a device emitting a magnetic field of 16,000 A/m. The watch is also resistant to magnetic fields from everyday devices, including smartphones, and it can even be used aboard ships with magnetic compasses. In addition to magnetic resistance, the watch also has ISO compliant*2 water resistance up to 200 meters. It can run for 42 hours when fully wound, with daily accuracy of -10 to +20 seconds – solid performance for a mechanical watch. The hour hand, minute hand, and indexes have a luminescent coating to ensure high visibility.

This is my 12th watch I've bought for for TRS; I only planned on 3 in one watch roll. I blame @tdw, and this review that sounds like it came from a certain manly user:

Alpha-Male stuff, rugged, very well made … and big !
With a top of the range calibre 9051 under the thick sapphire and with a very sturdy Titanium case and bracelet you can't go wrong with this wonderful watch. The design is strong, eye-catching, very Alpha Male. Wear it to the beach. Take it swimming. Buy one if you have the wrist to take it on. Similar in size to a Seiko Marinemaster but at only 145g you won't be bothered by a big annoying lump of metal on your wrist. Beware of the pin and collar bracelet adjustment - do yourself a favour and take it to a watch repairer to adjust it to avoid the hassle of doing it yourself and wrecking things.

I wondered if anyone was going to post today's SB deal, lol, being titanium and all.

The Monochrome review paints a good picture of it:
    https://monochrome-watches.com/diving-with-citizen-promaster…

It looks too much like a Frankenwatch for my taste, but apart from the aesthetics it seems like a solid tool.

It certainly has a post-apocalyptic vibe. I already bought a titanium eco-drive with sapphire and GMT last week, and there will be other watches on sale in a couple hours, but this one is dope. This will be a tool watch like my Sinn 856 UTC

Weekend Sale. The aviator style Eco-Drives are back on sale for $175 which is slightly more than last time.

Edited to include the Squale. Thanks for the link

@rosebank: I don't know how those $899 Squales didn't sell out last weekend.

            • @O15: They did. Prob got more stock

I'm pretty impressed with this watch after one wearing it for a few hours. Feels like a watch twice the price

Those open heart Citizens look alright. I'm not a massive fan of open heart but the rest of the watch looks decent. Sapphire crystal is a pretty nice addition at $299.

      • What do you have your Sinn on (strap/bracelet)?

The Sinn H Link looks and feels fantastic but the price is a bit out there. I think they should have included OTF micro for $500.

        • Tegimented bracelet. It has a champagne like finish. It was my beater for a while and had to replace the crystal. Case and bracelet are fine. Tegiment is legit.

I have bought and sold Sinns but always keep 3; 856 UTC, 356 Sa gr and U1.

          I'll post a pic later

Yeah the prices have gone up. I think I paid 3k for the sa gr, and about 2k for the other 2

@rosebank: Oh cool! That's what I refer to as H link (probably the improper term).
I love it, I just whish it had on the fly in the clasp.
            I have it on a 556.

I highly doubt any OzBargainer is manly enough for this watch.

  • Alpha-Male stuff

Are you saying I should only buy this watch if I'm insecure?

  • +2

This thing looks ridiculous but I love it.
It's spec sheet is quite nice, too.
I was thinking about posting it but haven't really had time.

It looks like it has in the fly micro adjust in the clasp, which is massively beneficial for bracelets.

    • +1

Yes. That ratcheting micro adjustment is amazing and I wish more watches had it. Sometimes your wrist swells during the day, you know. Well at least Citizen knows.

It's normally $999 so I thought I got a good deal when I bought it for $799 a few months back. I just love titanium shit, what can I say…

Edit: I found the pin/collar system very easy to adjust with my cheapo bracelet tool and because it sits in the middle of the link, it gives it that extra security I reckon

    She's a thick one, is that 1000m

    • +1

      nah only 200m

      • +1

        Hehe only

      • +1

That's enough in realty. 300m is nice and expected with Swiss divers like oris.

Citizen like Seiko, never close to worth RRP but a good pickup at heavy discounts. Looks like a good bit of kit 😁

thats enough to tell me this brand is shit…

True ozbargainers don't use watch. If you are rich enough to buy a watch, Longines is the minimum level you should look at.

    • +1

Who needs a watch when you've got a phone.

    • +2

      Lol Longines
