  • Great machine, highly recommend.

    I think this particular model is on sale to prepare for their next model, Creami Breeze, which do not have the tub loader. The tub plugs into the machine directly.

  • Do you think the output will be as good if we don't use cream/hevay cream. We get plenty of milk at home but never use cream as we end up throwing it away anyway.

    • You can definitely get away with not using cream. I personally substitute cream with egg in my creami.

          The egg can be cooked. Make scrambled eggs in a pan and put them in with the other ingredients. There is no hint of eggs in the final icecream.

          You can buy pasteurised egg white at the supermarket, if that's a concern.

      Since milk has a higher water content, you will get more of an icy result. Use of gums (eg Xanthan gum) may assist in reducing ice crystal size and improving mouthfeel.

      I had one of those cheap frozen fruit "ice cream" makes and what it produced was really good. Frozen bananas, strawberries, mangos, peaches, etc all came out really good. Just use banana as the base and mix in strawberry and a little strawberry jam. I can imagine these Pacojet-style machines will be way better. If the price was sub $200 I'd almost impulse buy it.

      • Do you ever put actual dairy products in one of those? Or is it just mashed fruit that comes out? I bought one years ago thinking others in the household would be using it but it's stayed in the box, need an excuse to get it out

          No dairy is required. Just slice up a banana and freeze it (as the base) and mix it with whatever fruits like you. Works much better with soft frozen fruit like berries, mangos, peaches etc. 50/50 Banana + other fruit. Also they work best when you let the frozen fruit thaw out just a touch.

    • Yes it's as good, but you have to eat it in one sitting unless you're happy to re-creami it again.

      The ones without enough fat don't refreeze well, even with the addition of gums imo.
      I just did a choc protein, dark cocoa, full fat milk mix and it was very creamy, but after 2 hrs in the freezer it became a little icey.

    • The best thing I've made in mine is coconut ice cream. 1 can of coconut milk (spring for the good stuff - you'll notice the difference,) some sugar and flavour. It's excellent and really quick and easy to make.

        To be fair, he makes a decent point.

        I would bet 95% of these aren't in use after 1-2 years from purchase. It just creates more work for yourself to make what will most likely be a worse product than a store bought ice cream.

          No the ice cream is better than store bought and you have control over what ingredients go into it.

        • For consumers of regular supermarket icecream, i totally agree. Its more of a product for idiots like me who buy the "more healthy" 500ml tubs that costs $10 plus each. I make my money back after about 30 servings

          • @Reggyscum: 30 "servings" or 30 "tubs"? Or do you eat a bucket load of ice cream and they are one and the same lol. 30 tubs for me (and I think most people) would be at least 5 years worth, probably more like 10+ years.

            Are you also including the ingredients you have to buy to make those 30 "servings" in your calculations? Or just the $280 for the machine?

        • If cost is the primary concern, anyone would be better off either just buying ice cream on special, or buying a cheaper machine.

          What this gives you is the ability to choose exactly what goes into your ice cream/sorbet/gelato. Whether the end product is better than store bought ice cream will probably vary from person to person. I've yet to make a dairy-based ice cream that was better (the 'mouthfeel' tends to let me down,) but that's largely because I discovered how good coconut ice cream is, and it's incredibly easy to make.

              @kwchaz: This is basically just the recipe from the booklet that comes with it. All I really do is change the amount of sugar and add other flavours.

              1 can coconut milk (get the better stuff with a higher percentage of actual coconut - you will notice the difference). A 400ml can fits almost exactly, with just enough room for the other ingredients. At worst you might end up with a little bit extra.
              50-100g sugar (depending on your preference) - I generally just use white sugar because that's what I have handy.
              Dash of vanilla essence
              Whatever other flavour you have. (I've tried caramel/strawberry sauces, salted caramel flavouring, butterscotch sauce, coffee, shaved dark chocolate and probably others I can't recall right now. All tasted pretty good.)

              Chuck it all in a bowl, give it a whisk to make sure everyone gets to know each other, then pop it into one of the containers.
              Freeze for 24 hours, take out and let sit for a while to soften a bit. You may get a bit of a bulge in the middle; so far I've had no problems just scraping it down with a spoon and doing my best to flatten it all. The scraper blade basically does that anyway.

    Great machine, much easier and better than other ice cream makers I had. Have need to freeze the mixture a day prior though.

    But I got it for 250 from JB a few months ago, by simply asking online what was the best price they can do

    Highly recommend this product.
    As someone who loves ice cream but feels guilty consuming a 2590 calorie tub of Connoisseur Cookies and Cream in one sitting, this machine is perfect for someone like me.
    There's a tonne of great recipes to be found with a little googling, and if you can find some lower calorie ones, you can eat as much as you want and feel guilt free. Obviously they don't taste as good as store bought, but that's a sacrifice I'm happy making.
    *Actually, I've made some Sorbets that I would argue are as good as, if not better than, store bought tubs (and healthier!).

      I got my machine today! Out of curiosity, what do you substitute for Jello Pudding? I've been looking at recipes and so many of them use Jello pudding - which doesn't exist in Aus (unless you buy from USAfoods - which I don't want to do).

      I found Simply delish pudding sold near me, so I'll buy some tomorrow, but wondering what you use as a substitute (if any)?

    I love my one . Can make very unhealthy treats easily.
    Can also make high protein heathy and tasty lite ice creams. Breakfast smoothie bowls were a healthy ,convenience in summer.
    The flavours you can make are limitless. Can make rockmelon ice cream with your"leftover " half. Its easy enough to prepare 5+ different pints and put in the freezer for later to be spun into ice creams etc that only take around 2 noisy minutes to process.
    In US there are customers complaining about the newest model breeze creami burning, but haven't read anyone having this problem with the 7 in one model.
    If you do purchase one my biggest tip is to purchase more containers.

  • This is so expensive - if you buy a scoop for like $6 it's over 46!! trips to an icecream store just to break even!

      Or it’s seven trips for family of five spending $40/trip. Or it’s 6 months for a family who buys a $10 tub of ice cream once a week. Just depends on your circumstances.
