D-Link DIR-890L Vs ASUS RT-AX56U / ASUS RT-AX55

Hi all,
I currently have a D-Link DIR-890L, but found a cheap price for an ASUS RT-AX56U and a ASUS RT-AX55 with Amazon atm.
I can't find any comparison websites which suitably compare all the items.
Is it worth the upgrade?

Keep in mind that I don't need the antennas as I am currently using the Tenda Nova MW6 mesh system.

Here's comparison between AX55 & AX56U on ASUS' website. Basically other than having 4 antennas on AX55, AX56U is newer and better in every way. However if you don't need WiFi 6 / 802.11ax, I'll just keep DIR-890L as it's faster in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz 802.11ac, and dd-wrt compatible as well (since you are only using it as a router, not as a wireless AP).

    • While I have you, could you please tell me a little bit about dd-wrt? This is the first I’ve heard of it.

Open source Linux based router/wireless AP software that can be flashed into your router, and it usually provides more functionality and allows you to install other software on top.

I am running an old Netgear R7000 with ddwrt as my main router, and set up some complicated firewall using iptables & PHP scripts.
