I can recommend Aussie brand LinkTap: https://www.link-tap.com/#!/wireless-water-timer

ZigBee from the gateway to the tap unit, App is reasonably good too

    • Wish I new about these when I bought my BHyves, Home Assistant control would be way better than their super basic app.

There is an integration for BHyve which works pretty well. Personally, I don't mind the BHyve app, but each to their own. All that said, whenever I can set something up in Zigbee that's the path I choose.

        • LinkTap uses ZigBee but needs to use its own gateway… so it’s a separate mesh.

        • The app is way too clunky. The HA integrating works though so you can turn off the app automatons and implement all the logic through HA by using the manual watering toggle.

        • Yeah I use the integration it's just not as reliable as I would like.

  • I have a Bhyve, it's probably the older version but wish we went with the other brand instead. It does this weird thing where it won't start but I hear a clunk noise and I have to press it a few times for it to get going. Then it disconnects from the wifi quite regularly. Have just turned it off and start it manually

    • I sometimes have the same problem but luckily haven't experienced it recently. I reset it and changed the batteries and it eventually worked.

      • Isn't it a wall unit? I did contact support and he said something about a solenoid which was around $100. But if my retic works 100% starting manually then pretty sure the unit is the problem.

        • I don't recall having an issue with the hub itself. I'm talking about the grey tap unit

  • For those with B-hyve and an android phone, it’s worth “searching” for the pro version of the app - allow much more customisation and flexibility
