Is Chubb Security a Good Home Security System?

With so many reports of home invasion in the news, I am looking for a home security system with alarm (i.e. any breakin will trigger an alarm). I am not considering the smart home option. After looking around online, it seems that Chubb is a popular choice. I would like to hear comments from Chubb security users, the pros and cons. Thanks.

FYI - home invasions have been on a solid downward trend for over a decade. https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/people/crime-and-justice/c…

All home security alarms work in exactly the same way. Basically there are a number of sensors, once those sensors are triggered, the alarm will go off. It's not terribly hard to make.

Ultimately it really depends on why you want an alarm. My advice would almost be to get a fake siren box and a couple of stickers and put them up. The biggest impact an alarm would have is to be a deterrent. If someone is scouting out which home to break into, you just don't want your home to be the most appetising candidate.

If someone really wants to break into your home for whatever reason, then the alarm will not be a huge obstacle to overcome.

      As they said^
Put a couple of fake cameras/sirens up and they'll pick another house

People break in even with the real cameras, all you need is a good hoody. What you need is a home and content policy.
I was in a new suburb with cameras for in and out to the suburb and most house has cameras, yet there are break-in.

But OP, having a smart doorbell would help to be prepared for intruders with water guns tho or check out the parcel delivery :)

Of course they do but if there are 2 houses side by side, one has fake cameras and one doesn't, I'm sure someone looking to break in will pick the one without the 'added risk' haha

But the Chubb Security looks pretty much like the same thing just with a phone backup?

I have two security solutions at my house. First is my "smart home" option with door sensors (which can be used on Windows) for my main doors of the house which I get a push notification every time it opened or shut. This is in conjunction with my security cameras (and smart doorbell). Second is man's best friend with 4 legs, weights about 30kgs and is very vocal about the slightest thing. The postie, the delivery van, the inlaws, any car he doesn't know he is making noise. So both generally cover me for anything.

I am in a regional area, so it's not like I live in Brighton or Point Cook, but there is a risk anywhere.

Do you have drug debts with bikies? If not, you're probably pretty safe lol

  • use motion activated big bright flood lights instead, self install, and save a fortune

edit: make sure to have some angled into neigbours bedrooms

use motion activated big bright flood lights instead, self install, and save a fortune

How do Big Bright Flood Lights and Self-Install go together? What big bright lights can run on a solar charge?

make sure to have some angled into neighbours bedrooms

      That's a bit of a d**k move.
