I paid full price last year and I found it worthwhile.

    That's awesome for FREE!

Incredibly valuable to learn your way around pioneer CDJs if you're new to DJing or want to move from a midi controller or competitor's system.

Personally I would have loved this app 10 years ago when I was entering the club scene. Spending hours going into the club in the day time to simply get familiar where each button that was on my midi controller was on CDJ 2000s, and then learn what every other button did that I didn't have.

This app has built in training to get you started and then you can practise.

The decks are scaled up to almost double the real life size from memory to help with turning small knobs and not having your two quest controllers hit. But you can make them "life sized".

Loading music in real life however isn't as fun without floating VR holograms haha.

I made a video on it 3 years ago, I remember getting up at 3am to hop into a virtual lobby to Chat with one of the developers. Check it out if you're interested

FYI they've switched to a subscription service.

    • Damn

Ohhhhh damn… I'd consider the subscription services for the tutorials and lessons being worth it.
As long as the free lets you just use the decks that's still great.

I learned to mix using this app. I can't recommend it enough. It's an incredibly zen experience and the best way to listen to your tunes. And the skills you learn translate 1:1 into the real world. Phenomenal learning tool.

How much can you do without the $14.99pm sub?

    • +4

      From their Discord:

"Starting today, all of the premium features in Tribe will be available for new users through a single pricing tier billed monthly, yearly (at a discount), or a single one time payment for lifetime use. This includes all of the music packs, equipment, environments, livestreaming features, live workshops and more."

I take that to mean your base functions will all work, but if you want access to anything other than the decks and the ability to mix your own music, you'll likely have to pay for the subscription. It's worth having a look for free - you could potentially get hundreds of hours of value out of it for free.

Given they have gone from 29.99 one off, to 14.99 per month… Isn't this kind of the opposite of a bargain?

    • Afaik that's to access premium features which were additional in-app purchases previously anyways.

  • Find out its $30 "PLUS $14.99 per month" took me from check out to checking out.

I've really wanted to try this out - installed today and can only get to the subscriptions page in game after signing up. Can "pay" or go "back" - theres a deck in front of you that does nothing.

No free option, demo, nothing. Would be good if the board was at least active, or some sample/out of the box songs… Keeping it installed because have heaps of space, but wont be loading it for some time!

  • Agree with the above. Downloaded it and it seems pretty cool with pass through in front of you but I'm pretty surprised this is listed as a bargain. I don't know what is normal however as stated above its a subscription service and not a cheap one. Netflix as a sub isn't listed as a bargain?
