  Buyer beware if for some reason you're planning to use it without the hs, the screws are impossible to take out.

    No it is not. I reused the HS from this unit with my Lexar SSD and it worked just fine. Might just have to use a bit of force to separate the sticky tape but once it's off it is off.

      I might have had an isolated issue, but it resisted all my efforts to unscrew the heatsink.

      2 screws came out with some difficulty. The other 4 were impossible.

  I had 1, and died after a year and a half. Seems like a common issue with Phison E16 controller, so just beware.
