Ausclimate Cool Seasons Premium 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier - AU1910DD
Back on sale again, not sure if it's prime exclusive or not this time.
Would love one but can't justify the 730w when my compressor one is only 240w for a higher L rating.
New and probably very bad at posting deals, someone fix all my errors pls

I’ve had this on my Wishlist for several months after missing the $216 deal late last year, and price anchoring won’t allow me to buy now on the off-chance it drops that low again. Also, high energy costs and inflation mean getting a dehumidifier is lower priority now.

    • Would this appliance use more electricity than having dry mode on a (new-ish apartment) that has the aircon built into the roof (the proper name escapes me)?

Currently, the bedroom windows create some wild condensation overnight. I've left dry mode on all night (which does the job at probably 80% effectiveness) and also tried leaving the window slightly ajar (which probably does a better job 90% effectiveness). The issue with the window, is I have to leave it open from pretty much evening (say 6-7pm) in order for the condensation to not build up. If I open it only when heading to bed, then its basically a tad too late. Also the house gets colder in the evenings due to this.

So my train of thought was putting a dehumidifier right next to the window area and potentially leaving it on in the evening into overnight (depending how loud it is). But my worry is the energy consumption.

      • Argh, sounds like I wrote your post..I have the same issues, it's quite annoying.
I run a dehumidifer and open the leave the balc door ajar to help. Generally get no condensation except in the bedroom which can't be helped.

        • I've got one of these - I tried to run my air conditioner on dry mode and it didn't really do much.

These use a fair bit of power, but are great. My house is older but it's enough to get rid of most of the condensation in the kitchen / dining room and pulls just shy of 3L out every night on low.

From the frames or the glass ?

If it's from the glass, you've only got single glazed windows.
If it's from the frames, you've got trash windows that couple the inside frame directly to the outside air.

Either way, the builder of your "new-ish apartment" made the wrong window decisions ☹️

If you're going to electrically dehumidify the room every. single. night. it'll be cheaper over time to just replace the bedroom window…

      • I would recommend getting a temp/humidity sensor.

I usually heat my rooms up to bring the humidity down to below 40% and have no issues so far.

  • How is your compressor one performed during winter?

    • I have a 12l/day Advwin compressor one that I've only had for a few weeks and it's honestly doing great. It's in a room that I don't let get too cold though (because of a pet), but the few times if moved it to the bathroom (which gets freezing cold) it has also held up well.
Powerpal says it only costs 3c an hour to run, so I can't really justify the desiccant one

Wow I paid $530 for this last year July. :(
That said it's been very effective at getting rid of humidity on those days and running on low is like gently warms the room.
Also good at drying clothes when it rains.

  • Bought this last week. Still hasn't arrived. Amazon says 'your item may be lost'. I live 20 minutes from Amazon's depo. I think this is handled by a seperate courier.

  • As per the recent 2 air purifier deals, amazon is price matching the Australian company that imports and sells these. You can buy it from the Australian company with free shipping for the same price here -> https://ausclimate.com.au/products/cool-seasons-premium-10l-… Any problem you have with it and you will be dealing direct with the OEM seller/importer.

  • I use mine to dry clothes , warms room up nicely too. It's probably cheaper than using the dryer.
