Lazy Maisons vs IKEA BEKANT

Hi guys, anyone with any experience on how the Lazy Maisons Dual 150cm Sit Stand Desks compare to the IKEA BEKANT.

I've got the manual height adjustable BEKANT and while I like the size (160 x 80cm), the frame on the underside keeps hitting my legs (I keep the desk a bit low) which is rather annoying.

Would appreciate any experiences.

  • I highly suggest the IKEA - IDÅSEN as an excellent choice. The table's legs, designed in a triangle shape, effectively distribute the weight and provide exceptional stability. You'll find that it exhibits minimal wobbling.

Hm, don't like the look/colour. But will keep it in mind.

  • I just got the Lazy Maisons upgrading from the IKEA Bekant. I don't think it will solve your leg situation as they're about the same in terms of both minimum height (~71cm) and depth of the frame.

In terms of electric vs manual, I've found it's great so far (only had it a couple of weeks). I'm lazy so one touch to go to standing at a stored height is a much nicer experience.

  • I've got the Lazy Maisons table in question. I go as low as 78cm and no issues with the frame hitting my legs. Definitely prefer the electric sit-stand desk over a manual solution.

  • Ikea desks are not great quality. They're actually made of cardboard with a honeycomb structure and isn't that water resistant. It's something to consider, you can get a solid timber benchtop (bunnings can cut to size) or at the very least apply clear coat.

The Bekant is particleboard as far as I'm aware. Not the honeycomb cardboard type. Not solid timber but not cardboard either.

      • Yep, that's right.

  • From floor to top of desk I'm looking for 68-69cm. Just realised Lazy Maisons goes does to 71cm so may not suit me anyway it seems.

It's part of the reason I bought the BEKANT. I don't need a sit-stand desk, I just need a desk which can be set low.

The frame structure of the BEKANT just kills it for me.
