Independant Building Inspectors Recommendation - Melbourne

Hi all,
I'm building a new home within the next few months and I'm after recommendations for a private building inspector. I've done some research and Darbecca, New Home Inspections and Landmark Inspections seem to be the most well-regarded, does anyone have any personal experience with any of these companies? Are there any other building inspectors worth looking at?
Thanks

Site Inspections (purely going off their YT videos - seems thorough)

      "Non compliant"

      • I'm flabbergasted

      • I'm getting the Key Fob as a Laugh.

    • Looked at one video and then ended up looking at a hundred.

I look to see if those issues also exist with my 4 year old build, but also things to keep in mind for my next build. Also looking to see if I can recognise the house/apartment.

    • He does seem very thorough but is unfortunately a lot more expensive than other inspectors (probably due to his tiktok/youtube celebrity status)

From the comments in his videos people have said over and over that there are inspectors out there who are in bed with builders and developers. You simply cannot trust anyone in the construction and real estate industries, they are all parasites.

Do you really want to cheap out on a site inspection and risk buying a complete dud (which many new builds are these days)?

    • "Good from far, but far from good." XD

    IOA Inspect - Anton Molnar

    https://ioainspect.com.au/

Doesn't have TikTok videos like Site Inspections, but just as professional, thorough and friendly.

    • Thanks for the reply, i'll look into IOA

Currently using Darbecca in the west for our build. We’re at Frame Stage now and have been happy with them to date.

Check with ur builder if they will be adding extra days to your contract for using a Private Inspector. Ours have a 30 day addition due to this.

    • Thanks for the reply. We're building in the west too. Our builder (Carlisle Homes) hasnt mentioned anything about adding additional days to the contract if we hire a private inspector but I will clarify it with them. Thanks for the advice!

I think such a clause would already tell you they expect there are going to be mistakes that otherwise might have flown under the radar.

  • I posted this article as a new thread a couple of weeks ago - while it is about building inspections for purchasing a property, I think some of the points are very true with building as well. Mainly regarding using whoever the builder etc recommends.
