It's like printers. The machine is cheaper than the ink

I was sucked into the Nespresso ecosystem for a long time. Recently got a bean to cup machine (Jura Ena Micro 1) and a traditional grouphead machine (Sunbeam Barista Max).

Please, if you are thinking about getting into espresso coffee at home, think very carefully before buying into Nestle's cynical little ecosystem. You will be much better served either by a bean to cup or semi-auto grouphead machine. The Barista Max (and similar models of its ilk) in particular take most of the fuss out of making espresso coffee, as you just grind the beans on the left side of the machine, tamp, then slot into the right side of the machine and hit go.

Not disagreeing with you but they are very different machines, these are literally pop and go which is why so many people buy them

      • The Jura I mentioned is even easier. Only need to fill the beans once every so often.

        • +1

There is far more cleaning involved is what im getting at
**Edit i was referring to the Barista Max as i have one. No idea about the Jura

@quikstix: I went full circle. Got pods because it was cheap-ish and easy. Moved to a fancy filter system, moved to a full Rancillio system… then got sick of it all and am now back to pods.

Couldn't go past being able to just whack in pod, half-asleep, press go and have a hot coffee within 40 seconds… :/

@Tafe: Yup same route I am at, been waiting for a Nespresso deal to pop up or similar. Had a dolce gusto pod machine before and only down side was pod limitations tbh and regret changing away from a pod system

    • How often do you drink coffee a day, and how many is made? I only drink 1 a day (wife doesnt drink) so to spend for something more exy doesn't work for my use case.

      • +1

One or two a day. My partner doesn't drink coffee either, which is annoying because if she did I could justify spending more on machinery!

The other issue with Vertuo is there's no after market capsules so you have to buy only Nespresso pods which can be expensive.

  • I'm keen to buy this machine so pm me if you have access to this deal

    • I had this machine, its overrated priory Vertuo pods are not as good as a real fresh coffee, so save money and go for the standard pod deals like the one I added below

  • How do you change the colour? It populates a black one in my cart that I cant change.

  • Is anyone able to purchase for me or anything? That would be amazing :(

  • offer has ended but shop.lorespresso.com.au has LOR compatible Nespresso pod offer, buy $120 and get machine for FREE (saving $159) with no ongoing commitment and any compatible pods thereafter.
