Ticket Prices for Flight to Asia and Europe, Restrictions?

I've looked at prices for going to Europe and then to Asia on the way back. But if I buy a return from Asia (e.g. Korea) and then buy a return from there to Europe, the prices work out cheaper. Is there a problem doing it this way? I remember that there were restrictions on buying one-way tickets, is this similar?

Do you mean buying a return ticket from Sydney to Korea back to Sydney, then, within that period, another return flight from Korea to Europe back to Korea?

So essentially, SYD - KOR - EU - KOR - SYD? Yes, that's fine.

You may also want to look at multi-city bookings on the same ticket which can be cheaper than 2 return flight bookings.

You may want to identify the impacts on your travel visa for the country in Asia, as it would be two visits.

No issues with one way ticket as long you have valid permit travel to there (because you will have to check out and check in again) and can prove your end destination is somewhere else (i.e. no intention to stay in the transit country).

This is a good way to cut costs. You can often find cheap business class to Europe for $2200 from cities like Manila or Jakarta. Just make sure you leave a night stopover each way incase you flight gets a long delay.

Just make sure there is sufficient connection times. Get insurance in case there is a delay. If the first flight is delayed, you might be stranded in korea.

Checkout roundabout travel round the world as an option.

  • Thanks, very good advice from everyone.
