[Refurb] Apple iPhone 8 64GB $199 + Delivery ($0 with $250 Order) @ Coles

151

Refurbished iPhone 8 is $199 @ Coles. Was $400+ but not realistically price at original.

Colours and stock etc is a lucky dip.

Refurb iPhone SE is $229 also, I got one for $199 previously in excellent condition. https://www.coles.com.au/product/apple-iphone-se-64gb-premiu…

Min I would go for would be an XS

    • +1

iPhone 8 can be jailbroken on any iOS. You could probably make up the cost in savings with 7-11.

Can’t say the same for XS.

      • +3

You could probably make up the cost is savings with 7-11.

That does not require jailbreaking in anyway…

        • I know right. I've got a spare iphone that I use just to lock fuel for the whole family on a single account lol

  • what a deal!

  • Good one for the kids?

  • +8

IF I had to pick one, I would go with the iPhone SE (2nd Gen/2020) for the extra $30, as it will support the upcoming iOS 17.

    The iPhone 8 won't support iOS 17.

    • why do you need iOS 17 ?

      • +5

        New features and security updates.

        • -5

Did you make your own ricotta?

        • -1

"New stickers" etc… not important. I'd opt for the last iPhone with physical home button over new stickers… if I had to pick one.

          • +1

@cerealJay: Both 8 and SE have a home button

            • @watts: Good to know. Wikipedia is wrong then:

"The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were the final models of the flagship iPhone model to feature the Home Button"

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone_8

              • +3

@cerealJay: Wikipedia is not wrong. You skipped over one very important word in the quote you pulled out:

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were the final models of the flagship iPhone model to feature the Home Button

The iPhone SE 2020 is positioned as an entry-level iPhone, not a flagship iPhone. When the iPhone SE 2020 was released in early 2020, the flagship iPhone was the iPhone 11 Pro / iPhone 11 Pro Max.

                • @WookieMonster: Yeh saw that after posting,… flagship. Wikipedia could use an additional sentence there, mentioning the home button does appear in future iPhones.

Interesting they are basically the same phone. iPhone 8 2017 and SE 2020 both weigh exactly 148 grams, identical specs in many ways.

Please just spend a tiny bit more and get an iPhone SE (2020) - this is what my partner and i just purchased, they are fantastic phones and will have iOS updates for many years to come, unlike the iPhone 8.

    • -7

The iphone 8 will also get many iOS updates for many years to come.

      • not sure about years, more like year and some months? that changes this formula making the SE 2020 bit more of a bargain, but this is still overall cheaper.

        • not sure about years

iOS 15 is still getting updates.

          • @jv: I call this a technically but sure.

        • -1

SE 2020 bit more of a bargain,

The main advantage is the faster processor and that it can take an eSim.

      • iOS versions. iPhone 8 is not getting iOS 17.

        • -4

iPhone 8 is not getting iOS 17.

          I didn't say it was…

Even iOS 15 is still getting updates…

    • how do you survive with 64 gb??

      • Easily if you are streaming your media. My XR 64GB is sitting at 25GB used.

  • +6

this should be $150 at most these days

  • +7

I’m sure we got this for $129 a few weeks back at coles.

    Doesn’t seem a great deal

  • +1

Is the iPhone SE at Coles a second edition, how do you tell …

    • Yes. Price

  • What does the “30 day satisfaction guarantee” actually mean?

Can I buy one and if it is not visually perfect being a “premium” phone with a decent battery % can I return it no questions asked?

  • oof, a 6 year old phone with at best a sub par battery life.

Surely an XS/XR would be the bare minimum.

Iphone 8's belong in the bin.

    • Maybe j was lucky… Got one from Coles for 129$, perfect condition, no signs of aging, battery as new, lasts double my 3000$ z fold…

      • Its not really the battery age
Its more worfully undersized for this day and age and the processor

        • My flagship z fold is woefully undersized too then. I.e. people have different use cases, iPhone 8 will continue to be fine for a lot of people, just like a 20 year old Camry is fine.

  • Coles seems to be putting iPhones on sale all the time at the moment. I missed out on the last XR sale a few weeks ago. What're the chances of it coming up on sale again anytime soon? Parent needs a cheapish replacement for the iPhone 6 they've got. I figure the XR is a bit bigger and nicer and should have support longer than the 8's.

  • I purchased this for the same price a year ago with delivery included, and at that point it was still actively updated with ios. Its hard to call this a "bargain".

I was even able to choose my colour. Like others said, look for an se at the minimum.

    • -2

at that point it was still actively updated with ios

      It still is.

      • -1

You're being pedantic, as pointed out in other posts, there will be no iOS 17 or feature updates for this, just security updates.

        • +1

I never said the iphone 8 will get iOS17, but it will definitely get iOS updates for at least the next few years.
My iphone 7 on iOS15 just got an update recently.

It seems cheaper on the Green Gadgets ebay store: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/203817844485

    Subtotal (1 item) AU $219.00
    Postage Free
    Vouchers/coupons -AU $48.18
    Order total
    AU $170.82

That is for 64GB. You can select colour.

Got this for $129 last month with batter health at 99%

    • +3

A good batter is important. Never tried battered apple before though.

      • +1

Get a flake with it and some chicken salt too

    • Same here

    • batter health at 99%

Was your iphone fried when you got it ?

      • No, I prefer mine poached.

        • Make sure they've turned off "Find My iPhone" then…
