Ilium Ear Drops vs Epiotic Sis Ear Cleanser

Hi all, initially got great advice from the Ozbargain Pet members recommending ilium Ear Drops to prevent ear infections in our dog. Anyone using Epiotic Sis Ear Cleaner having used ilium ?

    I use blackmore brand

  • Ilium ear drops are more useful for ear mite infections and (maybe) providing some relief from the discomfort of ear infections. As far as a preventative, I'd be surprised if it helps.
Epiotic might help, but if your dog is getting recurrent ear infections, there are likely other reasons. If there is an infection, best to get it checked out by your vet before starting any treatments. Good luck!

  • After reading through the ingredients - ilium has Lignocaine which is an anaesthetic and probably helps reduce irritation. Instructions say for continuous use up to 4 days.
I bought a bottle of Episotic more for washing out the ears and the ingredients arent all that exciting - so more of a saline solution with a freshner.

I think I'm going to use them in conjunction a few times a week as an infection preventative. Our dog beach swims a lot. I'm also dipping his paws in a weak vinegar solution regularly.
