    Don’t do it.

    • +2

Also fair. Especially given it can be trialed on Game Pass before buying 😅

      But I'm a sucker, alas.

      • +5

        I’m also a sucker.

        Don’t do it!!!!!!!

      • A trial of start field before buying, for real? . I didn’t know you could do that. I need to look into this.

        • +14

the full game will be available on gamepass on release.

          • @bongo007: I'll definitely pay $10.95 to demo the game for a month before paying full price. The only thing I'm concerned about would be the saved game. Can I transfer the saved game if I bought it outright.

        • I click on gamepass pc in windows store and I have an option for the first month $1 and then $10.95 per month after that. I'm sure no way will that offer be available when starfield is available and I bet you will have to pay for a premium account to get it or something like that.

Pre-ordering games in the digital age is completely pointless, and as we've seen in recent releases, a huge gamble.

More and more companies think they can just release 75% complete crap, get their profits, and then try and patch things to a workable level later.

      • Halo Infinite anyone?

      • +1

Esp if the price is this bad.

  • +24

For any game, you should wait for reviews before buying.

This is a Bethesda game, so waiting for the Starfield GOTY Ultimate Special Edition in three years is going to be the least painful way to play anyway. All of the horse armour DLCs will be bundled, and Bethesda will have done the majority of the patching that they intend to do. Modders will have taken care of the rest of the game's shortcomings. And the price of a GPU that can run it at full gorgeousness will be cheaper by then.

Playing a day one, unmodded Bethesda title is for masochists.

    • The only caveat to that is for Collectors Editions and the like. It's either preorder one or pay $900 to some scalper on eBay after release (see Elden Ring).

    • So true.

  • +14

    Day 1 Game Pass.

Also it's Bethesda, do you really want to Preorder?

  • +11

More expensive than Green Man Gaming and co

Wait so it's cheaper elsewhere, AND it's a preorder?

You kidding. Right? At least if it was "support local" or something.

    • The only reason I pre-order on PC is because of the discount. If I know I'm gonna buy it day one anyway I may as well get it cheaper. Green Man Gaming and Gamebillet usually do 17% but sometimes lower… that's for a Steam code, not sure what this Amazon one is - likely Xbox

  • +5

    I’m so not into this

  • +13

    STOP PREORDERING.

  • +1

    Dont encourage Bethesda

  • +4

if the last 5 years has taught me anything, it doesnt matter what studio, what hype or what IP, preorder is simply a path to pain

  • +6

    Should post on OZMoreExpensive.com.au
    Not bargain

  • Absolute minimum recommended graphics card that you need that you can at least enjoy it in QHD/4K?

  • +6

A bargain is getting it on Gamepass for way cheaper. $95 for a standard edition is just daylight robbery.

    • +3

Diablo 4 is $119 on PC

      • +3

Well that’s daylight and nightlight robbery.

      • Because its only on b.net so they can control the price. Completely different

    • ‘Starlight robbery’ more like….

      • cope and seethe pony. unlike your salty tears i will be enjoying another Bethesda hit.

        • +1

          Cope? Pony?

          You tasted my tears?

My tears are pretty sweet tasting actually.

Cheers mate - enjoy another Bethesda Hit 😊

  • +5

Get GamePass and "trial" it before you buy - don't pre-order. My Spidey senses are tingling on this one…

  • +3

Who still falls for preordering games in this day and age, honestly.

  • +2

A game pre-order is never a good deal, even more so for a Bethesda game.

    • Why is that?

      • +2

Because so many triple A games are released in a poor state, the "extras" you sometimes get for preordering are usually just skins (stuff they've removed from the game to sell peacemeal) and Bethesda are notorious for releasing some of the buggiest games around.

And also, and this is the biggest thing: There's almost zero benefit to you as the consumer, in this digital age, to pay your hard earned to be a glorified beta tester. It's bad for the industry and bad for consumers and the more people do it, the more companies will take us all for idiots and keep releasing broken garbage.

        • It's not the extras, it's the 20% off that makes it worth while pre-ordering (not necessarily in this case though). Although I do agree with your points about it being bad for the industry, although I don't think it's likely to change at this point.

          • @jk82: Who's to say there won't be 20% off deals post-launch? Given that Starfield is releasing on Steam, there'll be deals on GreenManGaming and other resellers so I don't think that discount is anything special, nor does it excuse the act of pre-ordering. Let us all remember Cyberpunk 2077, No Man's Sky, etc. Both of those games became better with time but one look at all the bugs that Skyrim still has today, after being re-released 800 times should indicate that Bethesda do not care about fixing their games to the same degree that other studios might.

Wait for reviews, accept the game as it is at launch, and make an informed decision. Hype is the enemy of the consumer.

  • Dont forget the upgrade to the premium version to play 5 days earlier. Only $10 a day, bargin

  • +4

More expensive than Green Man Gaming and co, but useful if you have Amazon gift cards or whatever!

It’s also $120 at EB games, should I post that as a deal as well? It’d be useful if you have an EB games gift card or whatever.

  • -1

    Isn't this game free?

  • It’s Amazon, just request return if game is trash

  • +1
