  • Our Dyson died this week and as it is 10 years old, it's not worth fixing.

So, I am keen to find a good deal as well!

  • The wife ended up buying a 2200W bagless vacuum today from Safeway for about $60! Looks like a good deal with 12 months warranty.

    • Got one of those cheap bagless from Daily Deals. It starts to fall apart after 1 year. :(

  • Bought a Sieger brand bagless cyclonic one from Target a few weeks ago for $99 (down from $190) and I think it does a great job. Has the turbo brush head too so the pet hair is picked up easy as (kinda scary how much hair there is actually). I am sure its nothing compared to a Dyson (and I would love one but cant afoord those price tags) but it seems to be very good (has the adjustable power/suction dial too).

  • Nilfisk is a decent brand. Well priced and performs well. Check it out :)

  • hi i was on a vacuum cleaner hunt earlier this year. I even subscribed to choice magazine online to read their reviews. Eventually end up spending over my budget and bought a decent one - The Miele S5210. IT is not bagless, but the reviews showed that most bagless don't work well (unless u get the top Dyson models costing $1000+). And the Miele s5210 had the 2nd best ratings overall in the $200-$500 range with the performance equaling many higher priced bagless models.

I got it for $290 with original price being $399 (asked for cash price at harvey norman nicely) ! After 6 months, i still think its the best vacuum I have used, great build , made in germany. Highly recommended if you are looking in the $200-$500 range.

hope this helps. I can email you a copy of the choice mag if you want to have a look yourselves.

    cheers

  • Thanks all for the replies. I was hoping to get one for around $60. I found one on oz bargain that was an industrial $60. But having read ash post might go and have a look. Thanks Ash- great research can you pls email to me.

its just that with so many other great things competing for my dollar in the shops I am reluctant to spend $$ on a vacummn cleaner. Tho I really need on sigh!

    • need your email first. please post it here.

      cheers

    • If you were referring to this deal, then avoid at all cost. Even if the item was still available, avoid at all cost. Here's why.

  • Hi Ash,

Heres my email address [email protected]

Still searching for a Vaccumm cleaner!!!!!!!!!!

    • hi raz

sent the email . about 1 or 2 weeks ago.. did you get it? might need to check the junk mail bin

      cheers

  • Hi Pauly,

Yes I was looking at that deal and thinking that looks good- havent read the link to the long post but getting an idea of the problems.

    Thanks

    Raz

  • I concur with a Miele purchase. After owning several cheap brand noisy, unreliable, low suction vacuum cleaners, you really appreciate the quality of a Miele.
I reckon they are better than the Dysons too.

  • Got this http://au.shopping.com/xPO-Volta-U2910 for $100-something.

The newer model is bagless and I'd go for that one now. http://www.getprice.com.au/Volta-U2955DZ-Vacuum.htm

BTW I took off the lowering/raising wheels as they didn't allow it to get REALLY close to the carpet. It is awesome now!!!!

Can't see why you'd pay x2 or x3 when this model works so well. It's Electrolux (like most things in my house) so you have their experience and great CS in your favour.

  • How about the recent post, Sieger Titan Bagless Cyclonic Vacuum?

  • I was using a bagless vacumn cleaner for 4 years! Bought it for $100. I don't have heavy usage (2BR unit). Then it broke down (smoke came out from the engine). The suction do decrease over time, but it was worth it as it last for 4 years! I vacumned my place once a week.

  • Sorry, forgot to add that mine's an upright because I have carpets.

For hard floors you don't need an upright.
