Tried paying for some fuel with 7eleven giftcards only to get hit with declines for both giftcards I had. The giftcards definitely worked for fuel in the past and the giftcard says fuel giftcard on the front. The cashier had no idea what to do. Anyone tried using these giftcards recently?
EDIT: Works and unrelated to fuel lock. Most staff just don't know how to use them and refuse payment with giftcards.
Yep, the cashier confirmed there was a balance but didn't know why it declined.

Have you tried purchasing anything else like coffee/food? Did you use a fuel lock with the card?
Haven't tried coffee/food and I did use fuel lock.
There was a rumour not long ago that gift cards no longer work when using fuel locks, but I never heard anyone substantiate it. Perhaps it is true.
Any update on this if it was related to fuel lock or not? Good for the community to know
Emailed customer service and haven't heard back yet. Will try a different store next week.

you will need to swipe the card via the cash register.don’t use the eftpos terminal won’t work I use every day with gift card and should work via the register if that helps. I buy the coffee every day not the fuel
How do you swipe via cash register? The staff instruct me to swipe on the etfpos terminal.
Give your card to staff member and get them to swipe
Thanks, I went to a different store and it worked. Shame the 2 stores I frequent don't know how to charge the giftcards as they swipe on the right reader but don't know how to set up the system to charge it before swiping.

mate did you find exactly the reason why it was not working?.
I've got a card which has not worked in 2 stores so far…..the attendents at the counter are useless. They simply say card is damaged but I'm pretty sure this card fairly new and always sits in the car storage box. Any suggestions please ? It has a balance of 150$ confirmed online.
Most staff simply don't know how to charge it. They must have changed how they charge these cards recently and the staff weren't taught.
I'm not exactly sure how to charge the card but it should be something like pressing a button on the bottom right of their screen called "eTender" and then swiping the card on the card reader on the right-hand back side of their screen (not the EFTPOS reader).
