You call that a boombox? In my day a boombox was as big as your whole body, and none of this wireless range nonsense, you put it on your shoulder and walked all the way across the city. We didn't have wireless back then anyway, you put the cassette directly in the boombox. A cassette was a plastic case containing two spools and some magnetic tape. The music was stored on the tape and when it spun around the spools the boombox would read and play it like some sort of magic. The most popular magician at the time was David Copperfield

    • Lol. The magician part depends on where you came from. If you were from the UK then it would have to be Paul Daniels with the lovely Debbie Magee.

The 80's boombox was indeed a sight to behold and still is. All those middle aged people now walking with one leg shorter than the other is as a direct consequence of the weight of technology and the effect on the spine.

      Great days.

That aside, is this Logitech unit any good???

      • I read a lot of reviews before I bought my non-wireless version.
The downside of the wireless model is the sounds quality will have some levels of drop due to it is a music wireless steaming method (A2DP).
Other than that, this unit have a very good solid build and very nice sounds (8 drives!!).
Portable is one of the pros of this product.

    There's a review here:

The cheapest I'd seen before this was on COTD for $99.95 + $9.95 delivery.

This product has been superseded by the Logitech UE Boombox:

    http://ue.logitech.com/en-au/wireless-speakers/boombox

So you might find it discounted at other places soon too. Good price though if you don't need the latest and greatest.

    • The UE one cost $299 (I'd take Bose for the same price), so this is good price for budget speaker.

  • I didn't read the bit about it being bluetooth which means its out of the running.

I am looking for others that perform similar to Sonos. I know Sonos is the nuts but just checking out all the options before jumping in.

Dang it. 2nd purchase for today. You guys are gonna make my wife mad when she comes back from work. Damnit sickie!

  • I have had one of these for about a year, its sound quality is excellent - fills a motel room or pool yard with clear, punchy tunes.

    aaa++++ would buy again

  • Great speaker for the money, though I expect we'll see existing docks plummet in price when apple releases it's new 'socket'' with the iPhone 5.

    • Which is why this one is good because it's bluetooth + 3.5mm rather than using the dock + 3.5mm :D
