Good price for a decent spec phone.
I also like how it includes a case, charger and cable.
We will probably never see it for $200 again.

    Love my G82!

    • I love that Motorola can't get their shit together when it comes to software support !

I've a recent Boost sim with this phone. Can't say I have experienced any issues.

      • Well after your comment and Sinnerator's comment I dragged the G82 out and updated it, after testing with a boost SIM, it now appears that the updates have resolved the issue. Unpublishing my prior comment.

    • sim 1 = amaysim
sim 2 = boost (mobile data)
      No problems with sims

did have a problem with phone not updating security patches, so needed to reflash with moto rescue tool which worked no probs

still waiting for android 13 and no custom roms if it matters to anyone

I like Motorola but that's BS.

      So slow with the updates.

    • Australia is still waiting, but the Rom is finished and is being rolled out now.

I believe Brazil got it first?

    • Edge 30 neo here
got my android 13 update a week ago, and got the July security patch last night

Yes I've had my G82 for nine months now (since that wonderful day) and I've been happy with its performance. It's quick and it doesn't crash.

    • Weird question. Also bought this phone from THAT deal. Phone is ok, (camera not great tho) but i keep on having this issue of the phone calling ppl when it should actually still be screen locked. It happens often. Gone thru all the screen lock and display settings and can't work out why it does it. Phone will unlock and cause all sorts of issues. I've even sent emails unknowingly whilst sitting, or with phone in purse etc. What am i doing wrong?😅

I think I have isolated incidents of the phone not locking when I asked it to, but not like yours.

I suggest that you check how long the warranty is and see whether you can get a freshie, as yours appears to have a fault.

        • +1

Yeah, thanks good advice. Glad your phone is behaving. Absolute bargain at $200!

I also have this phone. (from that day as well) and have never had this happen. It has been pretty much faultless. The only strange thing I have had happen is on 2 or 3 occasions is it has shut down randomly, requiring pressing the start button for about 10 seconds to restart it.

And I don't think the camera is too bad. I haven't had much to compare it though. Certainly better than the Nokia G50 I had prior, lol.

As waverly pointed out, check your warranty. Pretty sure it's 2 years, so you should be good in that regard.

        • Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I kid you not, and I am not exaggerating….a few weeks ago, from the safety of my "locked" phone in my handbag, I created a fresh email, and attached some very private and confidential documents, and emailed them to some random person in my contacts. I had to contact the person and ask them to kindly and immediately delete the email. It was pretty embarrassing.

@HappyPants: No problem. That is a bit scary indeed!

I should think you would have a good case for a warranty claim. I guess your first point of contact would be from where you bought the phone from, and go from there.

Hope you get it sorted because they really are a good phone. This is the first phone I have that I dont plan on replacing annually. I will be keeping it for at least another year.

No esim and no wireless charging, no IP rating.

    • +1

Yes but look at the price.

I know. I was just putting the information up so that other like-minded don't have to dig up through the links to find it again.

        • +2

Oh. I see what you did there. Its a lesson to me not to assume negativity.

    • Still rain proof; I've never actually gone swimming with a phone.
Wireless is easy enough to add for a couple of dollars via a charge coil in the USB port.
eSim, fair enough. as Shroomish said, the price is why.

Both this and Edge 30 Neo for $299 are fantastic phones for the price and the UI does not suck like oppo

    • I would have a neo in a heartbeat if the 256GB model came out here, or it supported SD cards.
With 128? It'd be full the second I synced my music.

Is the G82 5g still worth buying, I have had G10 for 2 years without fault. Now maybe time to update for a Moto fan, any suggestions pls.

    • I'd say yes. I just bought a G82. It's great (coming from a smashed Pixel 6 Pro). The only thing I miss is wireless charging. Otherwise it's a much lighter weight device that does essentially the same things with similar performance. I appreciate the presence of NFC in a cheaper phone because I'm used to tapping my phone to pay for things. Note: I don't play games on my phone.
