Thank you Kortal Race for $144 is a steal!

    • 100% Agree. Absolute Bargain!

    • It's exactly what I ordered!

    • Same!

  • How does this compare to aldis snow helmets and googles

    • sarcasm?

      • I have some, but looking at what benefit for a much higher price as i thoight aldi gear was also rated

        • +3

I have a $50 Kathmandu helmet non Mips which saved me few times (not hard crashes). I have been on lookout for a new helmet. I always wear helmet. I've seen people got hit on the head by others, ice falls from the chair lift… Those POC helmets definitely an huge upgrade for me. In my opinion, it depends on how often you are on the slopes and the weather condition you ski/snowboard. Last year my 10k/10k ratings pant couldn't hold up during the storm. I had to change twice to keep dry. I bought a Bilabong ($300) 45k/40k rating this year and it likes night and day. $120-150 for helmet and $130~ for googles is crazy bargain for this brand. It nearly half the price of what local stores offer (even on sale). Buy best gear you could, it save money on the long run and improves yout experience with the sport. I wish I could afford quality gear when i started, it'd dramatically improve my experience.

    • +4

ALDI's range is built to spec.
POC's range is designed beyond spec.

Whether you use it enough to justify or you think it's worth the extra price is up to you.

And obvious one (that is mentioned a few times here) is some helmets in POC's range is designed to MIPs standard, which is well beyond the minimum (and now fairly dated) AS/NZS standard required in Australia.
Essentially the MIPs standard covers protection in a much wider scenario of crashes/head knocks, kind of like ANCAP requirements for cars now vs a decade ago.

  • Thx OP
Bought a helmet and some clothing

  • any ideas on when the discount code is valid till?

    • +1

Its dead now.. POC just noticed an influx of code users.. Prolly earning them at least some 20-50k sales, but not at the price they wanted :p

  • Can the mountain bike armor gear be used for normal motorcycle riding protection on freeways

    • It certainly wouldn't be rated for that, but it is surely better than nothing.

  • +9

Looks like the code wasn't intended for Australian use, but they are still going to honour it.

    Good on them!

    • +3

yes I got the same email, thats what you call customer service! Good on you POC for doing the right thing!@

  • +18

Good on you POC for honouring the code

Aw hell man you’re being pretty unreasonable here.

They could’ve told us all to F off. They didn’t.

They could’ve told us all that our orders were binding on US and we’d have to wait weeks or months. They didn’t.

Seems to me the delay is likely a genuine fulfilment issue and, as their emails say, if that’s not good enough for you then you’re welcome to cancel.

Five stars for POC from me.

      • +2

if they didn't want to honour it they would have just cancelled all the orders which is within their right to do so - I'm sure most people would have placed their orders even if they knew it was going to be 20 days for despatch.

You could just buy the same items at a different store with a favourable returns policy now, and return the POC online store items there after your trip…

      • It 'may take up to 10 days processing' and 'up to an additional 10 days packing and sending'. Isn't necessarily 20 days.

People on aus cycling forum say they received orders within a few days from the Sydney warehouse in the past.

        • Call me jaded but we've used a non-AU code on AU warehouse stock. As far as I can see there's absolutely no reason why the delay should be more than 2-3 days possibly due to excess volume.

I give POC props for honouring a mistake/fk up which they don't need to, but I'll be surprised if they don't drag this out to the maximum delay in the hopes of getting as many cancellations as possible.

          • @syx: They aren't going to fulfil from the AU warehouse as that would take away their ability to fulfil orders from full-paying customers. 60% off also isn't that far off their more common 50% sale, so I imagine they aren't desperate to cancel them, otherwise they would have just done it.

      • +1

I used to be sponsored by them. This is basically the delay we would get. It's the industry standard….you wait a lot longer than commercial

  • +4

    Sneaky, sneaky, OP. 😉

Nice, nice, POC, honouring it regardless.

  • +4

Poc said the code is not for Aussies.
And it will take 20 days+ to receive your order and you can cancel it any time. (but why..? :D)

Gotta be honest, saw the email come through from POC Asia Pacific thinking that it would cancel the orders but props to them for honouring this. You've gained a new customer.

    • +1

let's be honest, you won't buy another helmet unless there is another error like this again. i appreciate them doing that, but i wouldn't buy a full price helmet from them ever.

      • +1

I'm the same, but it's the same for any high-end vendor of cycling helmets for me. Picked up a KASK Protone for a song years ago and have stuck with it past its use-by because they don't get such big discounts like this often. I know I'd have bought a new one years ago if the circumstances (timing/price/wallet) allowed, but only here through an error could I get a POC helmet, which I've been interested in for a few years now.

It's just a timing thing. If KASK or MET or Giro or any other big-name helmet brand did the same thing I'd be all over it too. POC just got lucky/unlucky here. I'd never pay the $300+ RRP for a helmet, not matter how good it is (I'll never be a Pro/Amateur to justify it) so I'm absolutely okay paying $150 instead of $375, regardless of who it is.

        • Sorry for the typos!

        • +1

          Same here.

  • Got the email too.
Very unexpected to see it honoured. Well done POC.

  • +4

Big love to the guys at POC for Honouring this I am sure that someone's going to get told off for this. They just got a customer for life.

  • +1

    Nice on them for honouring

  • +16

POC have honestly gone further up in reputation in my books after their email. We are honestly the worst bunch, and they supported our bargaining wrath

    • loooool

      Upvoted

    • I agree. However, this time we didn't know it was a dodgy code

      • +1

To be honest I had my suspicions with "partner" being in the code.

        • Oh i definitely understood what the code meant haha

  • +1

POC just emailed me, that the code will no longer be active.. But they will honour the order.. Thanks POC

  • "Per our Terms and Conditions, we will not offer exchanges on orders. If you have changed your mind and would like an alternative item you will need to cancel your order and place a new one"

Can you still return/refund it if it is not fit?

    • +1

No you're forced to keep it forever…

Jk yes can return and get a refund but new item won't be at sale price

      • No you cannot return it, you can only cancel it and buy a 'returnable' item at full price if that's what you need.

        • Surely you would be able to return it. Seems strange that they force you to keep it if it's not right. Have to pay for return postage though

          • @grack: Of course you could return it under Aus consumer law but would probably have to pay shipping and the next item wouldn't be as cheap.

You'd be better off selling privately on bicycle market if you got for 60% off perhaps. Hassle either way.

  • Thank you POC.
This good will will likely go towards my next helmet in 2-3 years time.
The extra delay doesn't worry me at all.

I was worried at the start of the email haha.

  • +1

Good on POC for honoring the orders

  • Ppl dont see anything wrong that Australian/NZ company is giving massive 60% discount to overseas customer while keeping local prices high?

Good for them for honoring the code but this is a bit backwards.

    • I think it was meant to be region restricted to Europe & North America, to a select group of people. Probably sponsored or industry network.

      • maybe it is summer in the northern regions.

    • Most likely the code should have only been active on the European and US websites (i.e different Opco and different market) but inadvertently worked on the Australian one, so it's different from a local company only discounting items for overseas customers and shipped overseas.

      From the AU website:
We only ship to Australia and New Zealand. Orders to European countries must be placed on the www.pocsports.com website. Orders to North American countries must be placed on the na.pocsports.com website.

    • What do you think 'PARTNER' in the code means?

      • +1

A lot of businesses get a great deal with Poc. It may be a bit of mutual cooperation or simply a way to get people in their gear who work in associated industries.

        • Exactly, likely the code was meant for internal aka non general consumer use

    • POC are a Swedish company.

  • +2

Poc has always been outside my price range but was able to snag a mips safety bargain and credit to Poc for honouring.

  • +4

+1 POC will receive my business in future

  • For those complaining about times, I used to be sponsored by them. This is basically the delay we would get. It's the industry standard….you wait a lot longer than commercial.

If you are ordering for the ski season it's probably a bit late.

    • So they're not commercial?

      • +3

probably a bad choice in words. I mean that when they pass on equipment to sponsorships or industry affiliates they don't do it through the regular channels. It takes lower priority. We would place an order only a few times a year and it would take time. That's why this seemed an amazing deal.

The gear is great so I am still happy that I now have some gear for next year.

        • +1

          Understood. Thanks for the reply.
Yeah I be read good things. The Kortal Race is way above my needs but I couldn't say no.

          • @Fitzwah: Hey. I have a Kortal Race.

It isn't above your needs. A crash is a crash. Apart from that it is a beautifully made helmet. At this price you made a great choice. I have 4 Poc helmets, this looks the best and feels the most sturdy.

It is a tad bigger in fit than others I have had and needs to be tightened for rougher stuff but that may just be my head as haven't heard others complain. As long as you get the right fit they are absolutely worth it.

  • +1

The helmet I ordered is well above what I need. But hey, a deal is a deal.

  • +1

came on here to see if everyone got the same email, looks like it.

i almost didn't buy one because even with the sale it still seems expensive.

Now i am happy i did buy it the ozbargain way and bought it 1st, then think 2nd. lol

  • Measured my head at 58cm so fingers crossed the smaller size fits? Otherwise should I ask for them to switch to a larger size?

    • same here. but the email says cannot exchange.

      • I bought some goggles and managed to get them to switch colours. So maybe once they ship out can't exchange but if you can manage to get ahold of them before they ship…

        • I also sent them an email. hope they can also let me exchange. My situation is a bit different, as I'm looking to switch to the wide fit model instead of the regular one. fingers crossed.

    • I'm a 58 in work caps, so I hope the Medium fits.

      • safer to go upsize, I upsized for the Ventral Air, tried it instore at Ccache, medium doesnt fit

      • +1

Might be too late but I sent them an email to swap and it was no problem to get a bigger size

        • Did they recommend going up?

          • +1

@Fitzwah: They didn't recommend anything, I just asked to go up as it's probably the better way to go, seeing as everyone else in the thread saying it might be too tight

            • @grack: Also managed to change colours since the original one I bought didn't have the larger size in stock

        • +1

They recommended me going up a size and they changed it.

  • Well I definitely won't get my levator helmet in time for my trip next week.

Should I just keep it as a $300 investment? I don't ski often tbh

      • I used my bike helmet for half a season. I didn't mind people looking at me like I'm some oddball, but when it got cold and wet it was a nightmare.

    • It's a new helmet. If people review it favourably you can always sell it and get your money back. I have a friend who believes this type of helmet is the way to go.

Where are you heading? We now have heavy rain forecast this Friday at Falls Creek. Hope you manage to get some good days

      • +2

That's true, I could just resell at some point and probably recoup the investment given the discount off RRP.

Heading to perisher, forecast looks decent for the days I'll be there!

  • +1

Kudos to POC for honouring their mistake.

New road bike helmet stashed foot future use. If it fits!!!

  • +3

Just an update guys, my order has already been shipped and now with Auspost despite the e-mail saying 10 working days processing time. Due for delivery between this Friday to next Tuesday. Dont cancel ur order~~

    • Thanks for your update. This gives me some hope that I might receive my order on time before I head to the snow.

    • +2

Was this 'DSV' as the shipper?

      • Yep

    • Got my two shipments today, helmet, jersey, and bibs. Happy customer! Not even 5 working days

  • +1

Also just got a shipment update for my first order

  • +1

    Yep shipped for me.
Next week though, but all good.

  • +2

I just got my first helmet delivered

  • +1

received first order, water bottle & cap

  • Received a shipment from POC… but it contained none of the items that I ordered and instead a random backpack that I had not ordered.

    • That's strange, Better get onto them

      • Yeah I sent an email. A bit concerned as the items I’ve ordered are out of stock. Hopefully they haven’t sent my order to some other person.

    • The backpacks were expensive too

      • Turns out they made an error at the warehouse and sent my order to someone who only ordered the commuter backpack. Now the items I ordered are out of stock so unless the other customer kindly returns the items…. :(

        • How did you find this information out. Was there a number or did they email you?

My order has still not been shipped
