A new Sky News documentary has revealed the question at the heart of the upcoming referendum on whether to enshrine an Indigenous Voice to Parliament in the Australian Constitution.

Hosted by Sky News Australia’s Darwin Bureau Chief, Matt Cunningham, The Voice: Australia Decides takes a comprehensive look at the Voice to Parliament debate, speaking to key political and Indigenous leaders on both sides.

The Program highlights the widespread agreement on the problems facing many remote Indigenous communities.

The question viewers are left with – and the question Australians will need to answer in the upcoming referendum – is can the Voice make a difference.

@BigBirdy: Lmao no im pretty well informed - only someone who isnt would support the voice

There is NO reseach to back it and plenty of historical evdiance go refute it. We have 1st nations MPs (11) in Parliment the entire premise of 'The Voice'is a lie.

We also have a Minister who specifically represents 1st nations ppls and their interests. No other race in Australia has that….

On top of all that multiple 1st nations ppl do not support or want it…

YOU do not understand there where 200 different cultures pre-colonisation if you one have 1 voice you do NOT represent all of those tribes as many of the hated each other. .thus WE ALL have a VOTE.

holy smokes. who told you you were pretty well informed? were they asking you to invest in a multi-level marketing scheme at the time?

There is NO reseach to back it and plenty of historical evdiance go refute it.

I'm not even sure how you would go about "refuting" the proposal "what if this subset of the population had a representative body?", but sure, let's see some of the plentiful historical evidence that refutes it.

  • I don't need chequebook journalism to persuade me how to vote in a democracy (¿).

    This referendum is dividing Australia.

    It's a hard NO!

I won't be paying rent to stay on land that WE purchased, and we shouldn't still be saying sorry for things our ancestors did.
*Do the Japanese still apoogise to the US for Pearl harbor?
*Does America still apologize to the Indians?
*Does Germany still apoogise for Adolf?

National parks, beaches & other areas will ALL be off limits because everywhere is 'culturally significant'.
It's gone too far, so if any do-gooders want to support it, then join them in the forest without 20th century clothes, food & shelter! 👎😡

I am, you are, we are Australian.

Unless you're a labor voting, latte drinking inner suburb w*nker who believes everything MSM tells them to think & vote.🤦

The cutest bit in that whole confused spiel (btw yes Americans still apologise to "Indians" and have treaties with them, and yes the Germans still apologise for Hitler and run Holocaust museums etc) is

As if Sky News and chequebook journalism isn't one of the biggest driving forces of the divide.

Incidentally using "MSM" is one of the quickest ways to let people know you get your conspiracy theories fresh from America. Well done, you "Australian".

Did such things happen in Canada and New Zealand and the world missed it?
Fear really is the mind killer.

      • "i dont know they might of happened who knows but how can we be sure it wont better be safe and leave things as they are yeah"

The problem I see is not that Sky is biased or that ABC is biased; it's that there are no independent news stations, which makes watching both sides of unpalatable biased media kind of important.

Thanks op, I'll watch it if I can find the time

    • Sky news is better then the ABC - that isnt saying Sky is 'good' but ABC is funded by taxpayers working in the best interest of any body that is not a tax payer in Australia

Sky is working for self interest and $ which at least you know the agenda
