What Wet and Dry Cat Food Brand Does Your Cat Love?

I like to spoil my cat so I have been giving him the Temptations treats, however I have noticed he doesn't eat his normal wet and dry food as often as he constantly meows for the treats instead (and I give in). I want to slow down on giving him treats and instead try to find a brand of wet and dry food he would like just as much and that is not considered a treat.

What does your cats like to eat when it comes to wet and dry food? My cat is not interested in the healthy brands unfortunately (Royal Canin and Hills). I currently give him Fancy Feast cans, I've also tried Whiskas pouches and dry food, along with a few others. What have you tried that they don't even take a bite of?

  • I've had the same problem, Mrs OzTurtle can't resist feeding the temptations (they must be crack for cats).

Our 7 month kitten will chow down on the whiskas biscuits no problem, but we have to hold off on the treats if she gets too used to them. Cat gets hungry and eventually eats the regular hard food.

  • Mine only seem to like whiskas fish or lamb. And Aldis dry food.

They wouldn’t even touch the off brand food from the reject shop - to be fair, it looked terrible.
Mine also don't like the "healthier" brands.

  • My cat gets 3 cans of fancy feast a day, dude is living. My cupboard is like a cat candy store, I got all the flavours. Doesn't seem to prefer any particular flavour though.

If you really wanna treat your cat get some rotisserie chicken dude. When I spin some chooks on the barbie my cat goes NUTS.

  • I don't have a cat.

  • mice & rats - both wet and dry in one
Friskies seafood dry mostly served and eaten without fuss

    • No one has a cat.

I know lots of cats that have people though.

What do they feed their people?

        • Now that's a question we need answers to!

  • my kitty gets mostly Dine, sometimes Whiskas and recently I gave her ultimates for wet food, and she loved those ones, for dry food, she's had Friskies, and Whiskas. and occasionally the fussy cat one, she seems to enjoy them all, but she is also looking for treats all the time, I've had her 3 years, i'm not sure what she ate for the first 10 years of her life,

  • My cat would do anything for Inaba Churu sticks. She also loves Temptations but not as much as those creamy sticks. I also give her Greenies to keep her teeth clean.

She has dry food from Hills and wet food from whichever brand I can grab from Amazon Warehouse, but she wouldn't eat two cans of the same food in a week so I swap them around. I also give her meat, especially kangaroo and chicken, instead of wet food a few times a week.

I set time for her meals and treats so she doesn't nag me for food outside of those hours. Sometimes I got busy and gave her only dry food in the morning instead of meat or wet food, she still ate but after every bite, she looked at me as if I was the biggest disappointment in her life.

  • my cat was always meh with wet food but tried her on the 'fussy cat' mince (chilled) and she loves it.

  • Have two older cats.

For dry we have a mix of:

    • ~40% Science Diet Oral Care
    • ~15% Science Diet Hairball
    • ~15% Whiskas
    • ~15% Friskies
    • ~15% Smitten

We did also have Costco mixed in there, but neither of our cats liked it.

For wet food we have a rotation (they don't seem to like constantly having the same wet food):

    • Smitten
    • Whiskas Favourites
    • Dine Classic
    • Gourmet Delight

For one of them we'll occasional have some pet mince (or human-grade kangaroo mince) in the rotation

    Good, Hills is awful.

Try some of the suggestions from this site.

My male cats need a vet diet so no recommendations there, but my female cats have this for dry food and Ziwi Peak for wet food (currently on the venison flavour, previously had the mackerel one regularly).

As far as treats go, creamy treats are cocaine for cats. You can get those ones in particular in bulk off Amazon quite cheaply.

  • my cats have pureina wet tins and TD Dental from the vets, the TD stuff is like crack, they cant get enough of it.

  • My cats get Leaps and Bounds grain free wet food (except one who is on a vet diet). They also LOVE Royal Canin but can't really sustain 3 on that and not go broke :p. L&B is $47 for 48 tins atm, and its better quality than anything else in that price range.

Dry they'll eat most things, the two on normal food are getting Ivory Coat grain free, and they also really like Meals for Meows (boy is sensitive to grains, but the other two liked it so much I just sort of kept going with it, even though they are fine with grain). L&B dry food goes straight through them though, and my old lady cat won't eat Advance.

They are basically junkies for creamy treats too, which is a bit hard when the boy is not allowed to eat ANYTHING but his vet food.

  • So many ideas, I will definitely try out a few of these options.

  • For wet food - Paw and Spoon from Petcircle is decent, price has gone up a bunch in the past year so it's not ridiculously good value anymore, but at $50-$60 for 60 cans I still rate it. It's got decent named ingredients (not some random mishmash of meat by-products) and a lot of water in it as well which is really important for urinary health, especially in male cats.

  • For dry food my cats love Royal Canin Indoor +7, it's the only one they'll eat until their bowls are empty. That's breakfast. Dinner is a mixture of Paws mince for cats / dogs and canned Whiskas.
Bought some Royal Canin Maine Coon once, the domestic shorthairs loved it. The Maine Coon turned his nose up at it. Go figure.

They have Temptations treats at one specific time only, ie when I get back from walking the dog each morning - they meet me at the door.

  • At the moment my cat eats Leaps and Bounds indoor grain free.

Shes pretty picky, refuses to eat wet food and even fresh chicken shes not really interested.

Seems to work well, shes healthy, nice coat for a moggy, poo doesn't smell

Treat wise, I give her greenies every few days and thats about it.
