This phone is great for watching 3D video. $300 for brand new one is quite good price. There are only LG and HTC 3D phone on the market but LG one is crap with only 512MB RAM and some report that it lags. Besides HTC Evo 3D has higher screen resolution as well (540x960) compared to LG 3D (including the newer LG Optimus 3D Max P720 at 480x800).

There are 2 versions of this phone (UMTS 900 (Optus) and UMTS 850 aka NextG, Vodafone UMTS 850Mhz). JBHifi is selling UMTS 850MHz version.

JB Hifi sometimes has quite good deal for their Factory Scoop sale. You can bookmark the link and check it out

NOTE: 3D movie playing drain battery very fast, you can get a USB car charger for this or buy a Power Pack on eBay, I found some 12,000mAh power pack on ebay for $29.

  • Not a bad Dual core phone, but your basic 720p video totally sucks, let alone 2D/3D variants !

    • whats wrong with 720p??

      • The quality is really bad, washed out colors, choppy, no definition at all just blur @ 720p, watch 720p video samples on YouTube.

Even this produces a better video @ a cheaper price, but much lower spec…, HTC use crap lenses.

EDIT: GSMArena has a sample video on YT that seems a lot better than what most US versions of the HTC EVO 3D produces, still choppy, but colors are a bit more accurate, along with some clarity.

Other than that this phone is great @ this price !

  • +1

i own one of these, and find it is a great phone, ok 3d is a bit of a gimmick but the extra processing power the phone needs for it makes everything else run sweet, just got the update to ICS and can only highly recomend it, also hope this is not innapropriate but i also have a 2nd one new unused and unlocked if anyone is interested contact me

    • location? how much?

      • Melbourne , $150

        • I'm interested as well. How do I contact you ? Please reply, need to get an android phone asap

        • have turned on PM's contact me, but in fairness i will give Arikkim first option

        • you need to accept pm's

    • +1, phone is quite smooth and even better when JB is out :) BTW, how do I contact you? Can you turn on your PM?

      • i sold the phone , thanks for all of the enqiuries, you can find em on Ebay

  • Battery life is appalling on these (even after extensive kernel and ROM mods) and the NextG version being sold by JB Hi-Fi is not ideal for those on Optus (fine for those on Vodafone and Telstra though, although Voda users really need a quad-band 3G phone for full network access).

Still, for $299 it's not a bad deal.

  • Also the phone is really thick and quite heavy cause of the 3d camera

    • I got one for $150 (I know it's good deal for 2nd hand one). The phone is not that thick and doesn't have plastic and flimsy feel like "some". I really like the texture of the back cover which doesn't make it slip out of hand.
