These are made of Resin/Plastic and IMO are not worth even the discounted $189. They look cheap, have a screw down case back similar to $40 Casios and are bad value considering for $200+ on special you can get steel Seiko 5's.

If you like Seiko, the look and the movement spend not even much more and get a steel version IMO.

Ah yes, the classic "urinal piss yellow" face.

This is way overpriced for a simple beater watch.
I'd rather get a Casio "Duro" MVD106 for a lot less that looks way better and will take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

    • Wow, I didn't know Casio made automatic watches!

      • Casio has some really nice watches.

        Very under rated IMHO

To be fair, the Casio has a quartz movement but I'd take a proven, reliable quartz over a cheap (but marked up) automatic movement any day of the week.

        • If I'm not wrong.

Some of casio run atomic timing those are going to be a more accurate than these high priced watches.

        • Ah, thanks.
Not being snobby about quartz (I wear one daily, a Casio, for sport), but I dislike having to buy new batteries and get the seals pressure tested every year (for each watch).

          • @sam buster: Yeah but you'll normally get several years out of one battery for a cheaper Casio watch like the MDV-106, so I'm not sure how you're needing new batteries/pressure testing every single year.

I'd argue making sure automatic watches are sufficiently charged is far more annoying, especially if you have a large collection of automatics.

As for pressure testing, that's largely unnecessary as long as you're not regularly taking your watch to the beach and diving with it. The seals may need replacement after +5 years but only if the watch is exposed to a lot of salt water. Also, if you go to a decent watchsmith instead of those cobbler/key-cutting/watch kiosks in shopping centres, you shouldn't be paying more than $80 for a battery change and pressure test.

I have a ton of Casio/G-Shock watches now and I barely bother pressure-testing them anymore when I change a battery in them; I never have any issues with the seals on any of them but again, I go to an actual watchsmith that knows their sh*t instead of some half-assed shoe-glue applicator who's trying to get every customer to pay for a pressure test when they don't need one.
