Nice, the beef "Gomtang" is my fav, good flavour, not spicy at all.
I tried the red sort first and it was way too spicy for me. However I was determined to finish it, which I did, and I was rewarded with a good clean out afterwards. The orange one was just slightly less spicy than the red one, can't remember any rewards from that one.

I was just at Woolies and was checking these out. The package looks pretty basic/underwhelming not gonna lie.

I looked at the Gomtang and it looked kinda bland, visually. Clear soup, white noodles. I was worried I'd get a weak soup. But I did notice that most people were buying this because it was almost empty vs the others. So maybe they are on to something.

Then looked at the Pocha. Description makes it sound like Shin so I gave it a pass and ultimately chose the Budae.

Cooking it right now and the flavour kinda smells like a little Hungarian paprika lol but taste wise nope. Flavour is not too bad. Different from other noodles I've tried so at least it's not generic/similar. Noodles are nice and soft. Soup wasn't spicy. Maybe 1/10 spice level.

$5.25 for 4 packs is not a bad price. I'll try the Gomtang one next time.

        +1 for the story :)

Interesting story. I’ve only tried the Budae and really disliked it… It kind of tasted like used hotdog water with very minimal spice.

Now you that mentioned it, lol yes it has kinda taste like a flavoury hotdog water lol. Yeah wasn't spicy but wasn't too bad. I did also add one egg to it while cooking it in the pot. I didn't mind eating it but nothing special but at $1.30 a packet, it's good value.

  • Instant noodles are noodles, that are ready straight after you add boiling water. Dosirac is a perfect example.

The beef (Gomtang) is good. For the spicy one (Pocha) you may as well stick with Shin.

I’ve been mixing the Nissin Hokkaido with Shin to reduce the spice level and gotta say, it actually tasted quite good

I buy Korean instant noodles (the thick ones) 5x pack 140G each for $7 at a local Korean grocery store :)

    • Do they come with flavor packs?

      • +3

Of course they do, tonnes of different noodles hot spicy, not spicy and anything Asian especially Korean.

Big fan of the Budae Ramyun. Great value for this price!

  • +2

Half price trick.. who would honestly pay $10.50 lol.
Only a 4 pack is sneaky. Just get Shin ramen when $5, this junk only worth $1/pk

    • Yeah I wouldn't pay full price for this. $5.25 should be the normal price in my opinion.

  • +3

Shin currently on $5 for 5 at coles.

    • +1

Shin was my top noodle for years, but I stopped buying it after having this Pocha Ramyun (red pack)

  • shin ramen cost $4-5

    • Only when on sale and only if you like spicey food.

      • That's the idea of these. You should embrace it mate
Otherwise just get chicken and beef Bland

  • +3

These are better than shin ramen. The noodles are so, so good. Chewy, almost.

    • +2

I like the noodles too. I think they might be potato noodles, or at least partially.

  • +1

    Pocha Ramyun is GOD

  • +3

If you are an instant ramen fan: all flavours are enjoyable, noticeably different from each other and easily worth it at this price

This is my wife and my go-to - nice noodles and nice flavours too.
