Honda Odyssey 2015 Windows Do Not Work

Probably a stretch asking here, but I have 3 windows failing in my Honda Odyssey 2015. First the two back ones stopped working, but didn't make much difference to me as I never open them. Now the driver side window stopped working, which is a concern.
They all exhibit the same behaviour - once I pull/push the button, a distinct click is heard, but nothing happens. Changed the fuses and it wasn't it. Any ideas?

Do they not work at all only not from the driver or door switch? Does the passenger window still work?

    Relay? Earth/power wire?

    • Passenger window still works from driver's side and passenger side. All other windows don't work full stop.

If the motors are a little underpowered from factory then the rails might need greasing. The grease sorta dries up over time and clogs.

    • Any idea how to address this? What does it take to take it apart, can an ordinary joe like me DIY it?

Depends how ordinary your DIY skills are. Have a look at some YouTube clips on how to grease a car window track and see if you’re confident.

      • It's not that hard ro pull the soor skin off and have a look, but youtube it first as they like to hide clips and screws and bolts that will trip you up.

  • Ask Honda?

    • No. Maybe ask a Honda forum or faceache group. A dealer will charge you an arm and leg to diagnose and then fire off the parts cannon and replace all sorts of stuff for a price that makes your eyes water.

    Microsoft is your go to.

  • Rear window safety switch engaged?

Failed window motors is an option.

    • I could only wish that would be the solution… unfortunately not though. Failed motors would be north of a grand me thinks.

You can get replacement motors on AliExpress. Not hard to replace generally but I'm not familiar with the Odyssey setup.

There will be a YouTube video on it I'm sure. Probably 1 hour of your time per door for a hack.

Edit: just looked - there's a heap of Odyssey window regulator/motor replacement videos on YouTube. Seems like a common issue.

Did you research this or just guess?

Might be worth checking with a mechanic

        • Probably get aftermarket parts for $400 and a day of your diy time.

  • Remember go to Secondhand Car yard looking for parts to fix the Window, end up whole lot movement part for $50 instead of brand new $400, take the motor and check everything still works fine, fixed.
just record every step when you remove bit by bit, it's not so hard to fix by yourself.

    • 2015 Honda Odyssey are quite a hard car to find spares for.

    You can't see through them?

  • Geez and it's only an 8 year old car.

Sounds like new actuators are the go.

    • Regulators?

      • Dictators?

      • Ah yes
This is the word i was looking for

  • Sit in the car with the ignition on, the internal map reading lights on (the ones on the roof) and the engine off. Look at the light and activate the window-down switch. Does the light do dim? If so, the fuse and relay for the window is fine. Then it can be the motor. You can try pushing the window down and lubing the weather seals, but you are just delaying the inevitable. It's not a big job to replace the motor (depending on the car).
