Eneloop Charger Faulty (Ticking Sound) ?

Hello

I've recently bought an Eneloop Pro - Battery and Charger pack from Amazon.

Here's the info if you're interested (I got it for $55 on special):

Panasonic AA and AAA Eneloop Quick Battery Charger with 4 x AA Eneloop Pro Rechargeable Batteries Included, White (K-KJ55HCC4TA)

I bought the Black Pro version (other two are white).
It came with the Panasonic BQ-CC55 Charger (the other two have different chargers I think).

I had to charge 2x of the new AA's after using them… the charger had a really loud, audible ticking sound the entire time.

Sounds like a fault from what I've seen others say online?
Unless you think it's normal - I assume I should return it for a replacement?

Thanks for your help

  • If you think its faulty, return it? Chargers usually don't make noices.

  • Yea Probably Return It, Sometimes I Can Hear A Very High Pitched Whine From Some Battery Chargers When Battery Is Full (But Not In Use).
It's Not a GaN Charger Also.

  • +1

You should return and get a LiitoKala Lii-500 or similar. The Xtar VC4 is on sale and looks to be good value.

  • Definitely return and do not use it in the meantime. It's unsafe.

  • Oh shit my Panasonic smart eneloop charger that I got a few months ago has made a clicking sound while charging since I got it. It's not super loud but definitely noticeable when nearby. I assumed it was normal. Guess I should return it?

    Hey guys,

    #

    An update…

    #

I've received a replacement - and the replacement also has the exact same chirping/ticking sound.\
It also wouldn't charge, no lights nothing….

However, I then tried it in another power board - no chirp/tick and it lit up, and started to charge as normal ?

So I'm assuming it's ok, or do you still think it's another faulty one… just a bit touchy as to when it shows its fault?

Both powerboard were very new, neither were cheap junk.

What surprises me the most is that the one that it chirps/ticks in - is my Cyberpower board?
That should be the better quality one by far? Maybe there's just some quirk where those two things don't go well together?
The other one was Crest btw (cheaper).

BTW - Amazon threw this batteries/charger pack in with a load of other stuff in one box with no packing again…
So I'm still wondering if it is damaged from being shipped this way?

    Tell me what you think?

    Thank you for your help
