Very cheap, good value mechanical keyboard switches. Reasonably thocky despite being unlubricated, and while you can lube them I don't think it makes a huge difference and it's not worth the extra time or effort, they already sound good out of the box.

Click here for a 🎧 sound test, though note the sound of yours will highly depend on the build quality of your keyboard frame.

I've used these for about a month for typing and gaming (on an Akko 3098b). They're linear key switches without a tactile bump, and have an extremely light 43gf actuation force (extremely soft and easy to press down).

The Akko stuff is pretty clacky, but good value. Slightly shorter actuation 1.6mm rather than 2mm.

45g is about equivalent to Reds. Too light for me, but a popular choice.

    • do you think these would be similar to my keychron gateron reds? id like something different

      • Might be smoother and sound different but otherwise they're both linear switches and won't feel drastically different imo

If you want something different consider tactiles or clickies if you can withstand the sound they produce.

      • As said, the actuation point is shorter.

Also the full PC housing and stem will sound different.

case material, plate material, mounting style, desk material and keycaps also affect sound just as much,

tried gateron pro milky yellows on two different boards and they sounded completely different.

Yep, keycaps make a huuuge difference.

Material, thickness and mass all change the way it resonates.

  • Originally read the title as “crystal sandwiches”. Was super intrigued so clicked through. Disappointing.

  • OOS..

These can be difficult to type with because of the light spring and short actuation, but they’re great for gaming.

Yeah, horses for courses. I much prefer 60g actuation switches for everything, but I know some people find that tiring.
