Looking forward to your next forum post. Cheers.

  • Buy celebration swap gift card from redeemyourgiftcard.com.au at 4.5% off - 1% credit card fee. Then swap for ebay.

This is not going to end well…

That is a tough ask for a number of reasons:

    • You can only redeem 8 eBay gift cards in one transaction (or 7 eBay gift cards + 1 coupon code).

    • Consolidating multiple eBay gift cards into one eBay gift card is basically impossible.

    • eBay gift cards are difficult to source at a discount everyday, particularly in larger denominations (which you would need to do to get around the per-transaction redemption limit). If you look at the discounted gift card wiki page, the highest listed discounted across a number of gift card portals is only 4.5% for Swap Celebration gift cards and 4% for eBay gift cards.1

    • There are no notable current or upcoming gift card deals you can take advantage of where you can directly purchase eBay gift cards at a >5% discount.

Your best hope is to scrounge gift cards from multiple sources to get as close to $1300 as possible. Some suggestions:

    • If you have not already taken advantage of the two active Prezzee bonus gift card offers (purchase a $150 male or female “footy” gift card, receive a bonus $10 gift card), you can exchange the $150 gift card for a $150 eBay gift card. You could also exchange the bonus $10 gift card for a $10 eBay gift card, but that is unwise, because of the aforementioned redemption limits…

    • Purchase 5x $100 Coles Mastercard gift cards for $525 through the upcoming Coles deal to earn 10,525 Flybuys points (equivalent to $52.62 in Flybuys Dollars), then use the 5x Coles Mastercard gift cards to purchase 5x $100 Swap Celebration gift cards at Woolworths. I only mention Woolworths, because you can easily use multiple cards in one transaction at a self checkout, whereas at Coles, you have to go to a checkout operated by a dedicated staff member to do split payments between multiple cards (and not all Coles staff know how to do that or will let you do that). Alternatively, you could use the Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase a Swap Celebration gift card at a discount from an online gift card portal, but there is a good chance that a gift card portal will block you from doing that, because Coles Mastercard gift cards are Mastercards lacking security features commonly found on credit and debit cards. Btw, you should be able to consolidate multiple Swap Celebration gift cards into one before exchanging that for a single eBay gift card, helping you stay under the redemption limits.

    • If you can easily get to a 7-Eleven and already have (or are happy to run) the 7-Eleven app, you can purchase a $50 TCN GIFT gift card through this deal. The only issue is that it is not possible to consolidate multiple TCN GIFT gift cards into one TCN GIFT gift card or one eBay gift card, so you may end up with a number of $50 eBay gift cards (which is not ideal for what you are looking to do). Then there is the fact that I have never seen a 7-Eleven sell TCN gift cards before, plus someone reported that their attempt earlier today to purchase a TCN gift card failed.

I am out of ideas at this stage. I mean, you could go through the OzBargain classifieds to privately purchase eBay gift cards from another member, but that comes with its own set of risks, as already alluded to in a number of comments on this forum post!

    1. The discount for Swap Celebration gift cards for RYGC is listed on the wiki page as 5%, but I just checked two RYGC portals and it is actually only 4.5% through one and 4% through another, and that is before factoring in any card transaction fees.

  • Api or redeem my gift card is 4% but they required monthly membership. I suggest to just buy from good guys or jb

  • OP, I’m surprise the eBay plus promos that happen every month won’t give you some savings?

    fridge of ebay

If it's anything like the ones of Xbox don't bother …

Still don't get the logic of risking $1235 to save $65 via classifieds. As mentioned above plenty of portals and catalogue specials.

Surely it would be easier to negotiate a close enough price with a local retailer for such a bulky purchase.

    For 5%, it's not worth the risk…

  • Thank you all for the suggestions. I ended up buying 2 Footy Prezee gift cards $150 each and $1000 shopback ebay gift card with 3% cashback. Still ended up saving around $50 in total.
