Bike Gear Warehouse Closing Down, All You Can Carry Sale (Not Online). This Sunday 9/9/12 (Sydney)

180

OK, I don't know if this should be in a forum, feel free to move it.

After the $61 bargain jackets a couple of weeks ago I signed up to their newsletter… Wednesday I got this one:

"Dear reader, just as you probably expected to never hear from us again we are back. Not with a newsletter but with an offer. An offer like no other. You could call it the mother of all offers!
The situation is this: we have closed our door but we have $2.2 million dollar in stock that we want to sell. $2.2M of exhausts, motorbike jackets, pants, gloves, boots, sprockets, chains, screens is a LOT of inventory but we only have one day to sell it.
We are going to do something that has never been done before. Rather than charging per item we will charge an entry fee. By paying the entry fee you get entry to our 30,000sq ft warehouse and you can take whatever you can carry!
That's right. Pay an entry fee and you can take whatever you can carry. No bags or trolleys allowed, only what you naturally can carry. If you can carry 30 jackets then good for you!!
THIS IS FOR ONE DAY ONY. IT STARTS ON 11AM ON SUNDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER UNTIL ALL STOCK IS GONE!
We will send out more details tomorrow but this is how it will work:
* All you can eat, although in this case it is all you can carry.
* Entry for the first 50 is $900 for 1 hour of exclusive shopping.
* No bags, trolleys of any kind. Only what you can carry naturally with your arms.
* No holding of stock of any kind. Once stock is not presonally held someone else can take it.
* Next entry is $500 for the next 100 people for 45 minutes shopping.
* All entry is $350 thereafter will unlimited shopping.
* 2 exhausts per visit maximum.
* Entry fee is for one visit only. A second visit will incur a second entry fee.
* There is very limited staff available for technical questions so do your research beforehand.
* CASH ONLY!

MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW. STAY TUNED."

Today I got this:

"Dear reader and subscriber. We have attached an inventory list. Our system reports on all items even if stock level is 0 so it is a long report. We have also included some photos of what is currently in it. There is also a LOT in bulk that will be brought down throughout the day.
To summarise what you will find in the warehouse on the day:
• More than 2,000 jackets of which around 400 are leather jackets.
• More than 5,000 pairs of gloves of which 3,000 are leather gloves.
• More than $500,000 in casual apparel and clearance items (this is in addition to the jackets and gloves above).
• More than $475,000 of MSR jerseys, pants, gloves, boots, helmets, youth and adult.
• Over $160,000 worth of Yoshimura exhausts and spare parts.
• Over $14,000 in BUB and $58,000 in Jardine exhausts and spare parts.
• Over 90,000 in Galfer pads, rotors and brake lines.
• Over $70,000 in Vortex products.
• Over $55,000 in OnGoard security products (chains and locks).
• Over $55,000 in HotBodies products.
• Over $20,000 in Driven products.
• Over $20,000 in Rumble products.
• Over $20,000 in remaining brands including Factory Pro, CRG, Roaring Toyz, Cox and others).
• Plus whatever we will find on the day!
Stay tuned on our Facebook page as we will provide picture updates throughout the day of boxes as we open them."

Depending on what you want, this could be a bargain. Or if you own a bike shop… :-)

At any rate if this is real it's gonna be slaughter…

    • location + inventory list plz? upload it as an attachment
i need to see what exhausts they have otherwise no point risking $900 on something for a different bike…

      also to quote:
"There is also a LOT in bulk that will be brought down throughout the day."
meaning if you paid $900 you may not get the good stuff if they didnt bring it down yet??

      edit here is some pictures
      http://www.bikegearwarehouse.com/newsletter/finalsale.html

Given the physicality of this deal, it's worth updating it to reflect they're near Sydney - http://goo.gl/maps/Jcknn

  • +1

Damn! I think I'm gonna go. Where is it actually at? You might wanna put an address in there somewhere, Mossy.. State? Suburb?

    EDIT: Pssh.. friggin' Sydney. >:(

  • +1

buy cheap 5 dollar thongs, wear out a pair of riding boots? it does say anything you can carry in your arms though…

shame its in Sydney, id be up for 500 bux…even 900 bux seems OK…
it would be good if you could get a refund if there is really nothing that suits your needs though….

    almost worth a trip though…

Bike Gear Warehouse is temporarily offline for maintenance.
    Please try again later.

    Yeah, right.

If you know what you're looking for, you can multiply your $900 admission pretty quickly.

I thought those motorbike jackets were cheap…

  • +1

There was a spreadsheet with stock listing accompanying the email.

It'll be interesting just to take pictures of ingenuity in carrying stuff out. Wonder if you can wear stuff out. Put on XXXXL pants and fill em up.

Maybe Edward Scissorhands might be free for the day.

Shame the business model failed, but at least they had a go.

    • Put on S pants.
Put on M pants, over S pants.
Put on L pants, over M pants.
Put on XL pants, over L pants.

      You picked the trend yet?

"…only what you naturally can carry…".
Wearing strikes me as a pretty natural way to carry something…

      • +2

what if you dont fit xl pants

also why would you buy gear that you wouldnt wear etc.
bike gear is pretty hard to sell on ebay. cause even if you got it for a bargain, youd want a profit so you still wouldnt be listing it at impulse buy prices. plus its such a broden thing to do.

        • Good point.

But i like the Steptoe idea of XXXXL pants & fill 'em up.

Someone really should grab a camera & take shots of people exiting: human ingenuity is unbounded.

    • what was the business model? i havent heard of them till now
i didnt even see their jacket deal even tho i check ozb everyday!

      • Importer and Retailer in one, initially with web only sales. Later phone sales and Saturday public sales from warehouse.

They were Mat Mladin Imports previously.

  • +1

How heavy are their motorbikes ???

    • There are no motorbikes.

      • +1

dammit… How wants to buy my tickets to Sydney then… :(

        • Lol I'll grab them, JV.. at standard OzB el cheapo rates of course. How's about we say a tenner for the pair (one way only)? ;P

      • +1

Jesper might forget he had his Harley down the back. Like to see someone carry that out.

  • +3

This has the potential to be a s&%# fight.

    • Comancheros vs Bandidos…

  • Any way of uploading the inventory list, or an idea of what brands etc are included?

    • +1

Just off the top of my head here are the brands:

      Clothing
      -Joe Rocket
      -Tourmaster
      -Coretch
      -MSR

      Accessories
      -Yoshimura
      -Jardine
      -Bub
      -Ridden
      -Vortex
      -Gaffa
      -OnGuard

There are many more but these are just off the top of my head

    • According to their Facebook, they have already scaled down, eg no more staff so it's possibly just the owner managing this whole firestorm. If they'd done something similar to this when they opened maybe more of us would have heard of them! :-\

  • +1

Not really in Sydney….looks like it's out in Camden!

    • +1

      Doo-dah! doo-dah!

  • +2

This sounds awesome. Someone should volunteer to YouTube the event for the ones that can't make it :-D

  • It would be worth attending just to see whether any fights break out and also how much gear one bikie can fit on his person.

Enter in underpants, come out fully kitted and loaded up with stuff. Deal is definitely biased towards huge strong dudes and weightlifters. We need photos.

  • Ironically you probably cant get your moneys worth if you ride a bike there.

  • If anyone is planning on going let me know, there are a couple of textile jackets and things I want which I'm happy to pay a bit for. Sadly I'm in Brisbane so it isn't cost effective for me to go.

    • Check eBay over the coming weeks and I think you'll find a lot of this stuff being remarketed.

    • got 3 jackets at the sale, 2 of which I've posted on ebay, sizes are M if you're interested.

  • So where's the pics?

  • +1

    Did anyone go?

  • yes where is the followup status report
    who was the biggest broden?

  • Kinda fail sale for me
There was quite a lot of motorcross gears, but sadly most road gears were gone.
No more road exhausts besides a couple of 90s harley slip ons.
